What do we want the Dem response to SOTU to sound like?
Here's what I want: a declaration of war.

Turdblossom Rove thought he was being pretty farking clever scheduling the SOTU with the Iowa caucus. Now we'll show that fat fark who's clever -- the campaign begins right after the SOTU.

Here's how I see some of the points:

1. Bush is going to say "optimistic" about thirty times, right?
-> "Democrats are very optimistic about 2004 because this is the year America will finally say goodbye to George W. Bush and put a dark chapter of our history behind us."

2. Mars mission
-> "No one supports the space program like the Democrats, but the President is clearly not serious about this proposal, because he hasn't budgeted for it."

3. Bush will barely mention Iraq. He'll probably just refer to "victories in the war on Terra."
-> "Last year, the President told the nation that Saddam Hussein was threatening America with weapons of mass destruction so we had to strike him first. Now we know that was totally untrue, that Iraq had no WMDs at all, and Bush probably knew it." and so on...

1. Did he schedule the SOTU on the day after the caucus?

I thought that was just a coincidence.

2. Some kinda of verbal indictment of the * regime.
Or perhaps announce the start of impeachment hearings. Good luck, in a Republican controlled Congress.

5. Tough, confrontational, and truthful
We need to take it to him.

My guess is we'll have some pro-war democrat up there lying to us telling us how much better we are with Saddam Hussien captured.

7. how about this?
"The lying little turd did it again!"

bing! expose Bush's latest lie about the economic "turnaround"
fact: 3 million+ lost jobs; vanishing middle class

bing! expose lies about Iraq war and wmd
fact: aint no wmd's and the invasion was illegal and not worth 500 dead

bing! expose lies about fatherland "security"
fact: we are far less secure and there is still no 9-11 report.

etc.

"And now they lying motherfucker thinks he can get away with it again?"

10. Vinny Gambini's opening statement would do it
In "My Cousin Vinny," the prosecutor made a long, impassioned opening statement. Vinny stood up, walked over to the jury box and said "Everything that guy just said was bullshit. Thank you."

Do we have any senators with serious Italian accents?

Okay, seriously, guys: I stand by my original tactic--ignore the lies flowing from Dim Son's mouth and rip apart his actions.

11. "dead silence" from Dems during SOTU
no clapping, no standing ovations

the rebuttal: a laundry list of current expenditures and no way to pay for it, followed by list of bush*'s "new" proposals and ask how is he going to pay for it?
