This has been a most excellent day for Democrats across the country
The news has been utterly and completely dominated by Democrats today. The Democratic Party message of jobs, health care, education, national security have been front and center all day long from just about every talking head around. There have been a few GOP talking heads that for the most part make a lame attempt at best to throw cold water on today but its not working. In my opinion, the excitement and electricity that's in the air that is the Democrat message has dominated the news all day long. Millions have heard it. No doubt millions have had good reason to stop and think.

I don't remember a day like this since maybe 1992. Yeah, we wanted to reelect Bill in 1996 and we were still excited about Bill but we were also the party in the White House. In 2000, the relentless GOP message took its toll and we, and the public, became jaded and took much for granted. We wanted Gore but there was a distinct lack of "freshness" such as it was in 1992. In 1992, we were 12 years into Reagan/Bush and Bill's message of hope and "don't stop thinking about tomorrow" caught fire and voters realized it didn't have to be like it was for those 12 years. Personally, I think there's as much fatigue from Bush right now as there was in 1992 from 12 years of Reagan/Bush I.

So enjoy today, regardless of who wins. This day, and many more like it as we go through the primaries, are going to go a long way to beating that no good son-of-a-bitch in November.

1. thanks for this, Gman ...
a nice inspiring message ...

i watched a roundtable with Russert last night ... one of the reporters he had on (can't remember who) said the bush's SOTU speech would stop the momentum the dems would have coming out of Iowa ... he said the SOTU would dominate the news cycles into Thursday ...

this should not be the case at all, though ...

as the campaign moves to NH, the dems should take advantage of their press coverage to respond to bush's SOTU speech ... it would be interesting for one, or all, of them to challenge bush to debate points he raised in his speech ... he wouldn't accept, of course, but it would still be nice to see bush back down from the challenge ...

After many years of just not paying attention.

Yes, you are right, it is a very hopeful day.

3. Hopefully when
this is over we will all remember that we are "family" and have a common enemy. Whomever wins the nomination will have my support even though I have my favorites.
