Ed Gillespie predicts George W. will win Iowa in November.
Republican National Committee Chair Ed Gillespie predicted tonight that George W. will win Iowa in November.

Gillespie said that while George W. lost Iowa in 2000, it was very close.
--------
I'm optimistic that the Democratic candidate will win Iowa, because that candidate will have spent so much more time in Iowa in 2003/2004.

What do you think about Iowa in November?

4. Iowa was close in '00
for one reason because Nader got a good vote there. Nader will not be the Green candidate in '04 and I don't think the Green party will do as well nationally or in Iowa in '04 because of the widespread belief on the left that Bush must be defeated.

5. Nader
Needs to keep his ugly vote-stealing mug out of the entire race! In some good news, I saw an article in the Colorado Springs Gazette Telegraph that out of the 7 states Gore carried by 5% or less, all but one have swung more Democratic in the past few years (the exception being Minnesota). I think Iowa, Oregon and Washington will be fine.

18. I predict the Democrat will narrowly win Minnesota in November.
I predict the Democrat will narrowly win Minnesota in November.

It's going to take a lot of work by a lot of Minnesotan Democrats, but I think that we'll succeed here.

Right now the polls say Bush would win Minnesota if the election were held today, but even so.

6. Did Mr. Gillespie say where the new votes would come from?
Did he say WHO will be voting for Bush who did not vote for him before?

No, he didn't explain who would cast the new votes by category, he just said that if George W. had gotten only 2 more votes per precinct (or something like that) than he would have won, and he's sure George W. will get more than that.

19. I was thinking about that too.
Not only will Clark have to make up lost time in introducing himself to voters, but many Iowans might feel "dissed" that he didn't campaign there.

I still want Clark to get the nomination though -- I think that even if he lost Iowa, he's in the best position to make up for it with other states.

11. Gillespie was on one of the talk shows this morning
He was asked what he thought about the Dem candidates and he went through a list of why he didn't like each one.

Who cares? He's the frickin' RNC chair, like he is going to say anything "fair and balanced" about a Democrat.

12. Assuming a close election,
I would think Iowa would be safe. I would worry more about Minnesota though. It seems to be trending the other way.

boy. I think Mr. Ed also predicted job growth. He needs to join Ms. Cleo in "psychics who didn't see it coming."

20. Why doesn't
Ed Gillespie audition for the role of Maytag repairman? Gordon Jump's taking a dirt nap.
The level of spinning we'll see from Mr. Ed between now and 11/04 will boggle the mind. That is if one of chimpy's many scandals hasn't managed to finally finish him off policitally.
