years ago, she struck me as an actress with a capital A. All affectation and nothing underneath.

But in recent years, with her movie career souring, she's done some interesting roles (Tallulah Bankhead on stage, and my favorite: Chandler's father on Friends).

I saw the Zahn interview and she was a LOT less affected than in her past. But lord, she's getting that "old lucille ball" voice.

She is a broad in the best sense of the word. Affected yes, because she grew up all over the world and had to construct a persona to adjust. She also developed a particular way of speaking and she will tell you she made it up herself. I think she is a hoot.
