Kennedy First, Now Gore: ALL Dems Need To Fall In Line Behind Them
I just watched the replay of Ted Kennedy's forceful, dynamic, no-BS speech from yesterday in which he basically called bush a traitor. Then, Katie Couric quoted Bug Boy (Delay) saying Ted had "questioned bush's patriotism." DAMN STRAIGHT!

Today, Gore is bashing bush - no prisoners!!

It is time for every Dem in the country to get behind these two leaders and toe the anti-bush line. EVERY Dem in a position of power should take the talking points of these two BRAVE men to heart and start parroting them on every talk show they appear on. There can be no equivocation. There can be NO APOLOGIES for what was said.

Dem candidates, are you listening?

CARPE DIEM!!

1. i hate to be told what to do.
most people do. so why do people try to tell us what to do? I'll follow who i want and all this annointment business is making me shy away from YOUR candidate.

No votes have been cast yet. quit trying to circumvent the system. it's not a coronation.

thanks for the consideration. i, in turn, pledge to promise not to tell you to do anything.

2. This post isn't about a candidate..it's about being a Democrat...
Ted Kennedy is supporting John Kerry.

Al Gore is supporting Howard Dean.

They are both outstanding Democrats that we should all get behind when they go after Bush!

So don't take it wrong, but I just want to gently point out that Al Gore is not a candidate this time around.

28. No, but...
... while neither Mr. Gore nor Senator Kennedy are candidates, Senator Kennedy at least is an elected representative of the people of Massachusetts, and as such he has every right to make the opinions of his constituents known. Mr. Gore, as the past vice-President, also has every right to speak from his personal knowledge and expertise. I haven't seen Mr. Gore's speech yet, but I have a link to it and will watch when I have more time, but Senator Kennedy was outstanding. I also hope that other Democrats, candidates and already elected representatives, will support him and be encouraged to speak out forcefully and honestly and patriotically themselves. There are many fine Democrats, but I'm tired of watching them bite their tongues. Hurray and thanks to Senator Kennedy!

i fail to see how the opinion that we should unite behind Gore and Kennedy in cutting Bush down is offensive in any way.

12. Indeed...Its Now or Never..Stand Up ..Speak Down to Bush!!
Senior Senator Ted Kennedy's speach was the most honest and eloquently given rendidtion of the Truth of the Bush cabal I have heard yet. I watched it twice yesterday...damn near brought tears to my eyes, to think that someone with much greater power than me, could and would stand there and boldly speak the truth about the hijacking of our great Nation by Bush, Cheney, Wolfowitz, Rumsfeld, A. Card, Rove, and Pa Bush redux. THE WAR WAS A LIE!! Just like we knew it was. It is not people like Kennedy, Gore, and those who question Bush policies who are un-patriotic..but it is the members of Bush's league of treasonous hacks, who live so close to the Hitler doctrine, those who support Bush, Ashcroft, et.al., who are the true UNPATRIOTS of The United States of America. These people have SOLD our Nation to the highest Corporate bidder..I am so outraged by every destructive, thoughtless policy that surfaces, almost daily, from Bush's hide out in Crawwford, that we cannot have too many Ted Kennedys and Al Gores, Howard Deans, Kerrys, Gephardts, Edwards', Sharptons, Kucinichs, and all those who have managed to bring attention to the atrocities Bush has brought to our Nation and its Constitution.

Its amazing that any of them have been given a voice at all, considering the likes of Woodruff, and the hatred displayed in the Right Wing Press...
Power to the People of the United States of America....Its time to get rid of the stench in the White House, the stench of our once great Nation rotting away under the Bush Regime.

Thanks..Blaze Diem

13. About time
It's about time prominent Democrats started standing up and speaking out. It also bodes well that they are focusing their topics. (Gore on environment, Kennedy on Iraq.)

The Bush administration is vulnerable on so many fronts. When one person talks about one subject, then everyones message comes through clearer.

Bravo!

democratic representatives, it is about ready to beat it down. Time is wasting away and the democrats need to gain some steam and give their constituents a reason to fight and believe and most importantly, unite against the real "enemy".

Edited on Thu Jan-15-04 05:07 PM by Q
...for over a year now. The problem is that the 'moderate, corporate' Democrats won't give the 'liberals' a voice in the party. Even worse...the more conservative Democrats are actually denouncing these speeches as 'over the top' as they claim that cooperating with Bush* is the only way to go.

He tells it like it is. I bookmarked a copy of his speech. It is a good, basic outline of the Bush admin plot to attack Iraq.

That happens when you write something as you run out the door, but I was so psyched by Ted's speech that I had to get it out.

I urge everyone to scour the Internet and find either transcripts or video footage of Ted's speech yesterday. He stood up as a real Dem, called a traitor a traitor (well, almost), and made this Dem extremely proud.

Then today, Gore kicked bush right in the gonads on shrub's silly Mars diversion and his massive assault on our environment. I was there at the first Earth Day when my "friends" and neighbors called us *COMMIES* for supporting a new and necessary movement. The country has come a long way since then, but under bush, it's all being undone. Gore has the credentials and the cajones to tell it like it is, and people listen to Gore as well they should.

What I was urging in my post was for Dems to get a reality check and LISTEN to these two. As far as I'm concerned, if you can't get behind the thoughts expressed by Kennedy and Gore in their respective speeches, you're no Dem. You may not even be worth calling an American. The RW will demand apologies, they will whine about their 4-year-old being called nasty names, they will confront ALL Dems on talk shows and demand they repudiate the words of Kennedy and Gore. They will ask them to parse the words, to mollify the feelings, to suck their asses as they piss away their spines and sell their souls.

FUCK THAT!!@#$%$! And FUCK those Zell Miller Dems who are bush appeasers just as surely those who appeased Hitler were appeasers.

I am SO proud to be a Democrat this day!

Thank you, Teddy.

Thank you, Al.

24. No more mr. and ms. nice guy/gal...
...that's what dems have to learn. stop , stop , stop being the polite, apologetic, politically correct party. We've got to get tough, to play the game by the rules set up by the GOP - go for the jugular. There's so much to attack, and the candidates are still tiptoeing around the Bush lies and all the secrecy and rape of democracy we've experienced. I'm delighted that Gore and Kennedy (and Byrd) have their say, but it's not enough..as is being expressed here. The democratic candidates have to express the frustration of the electorate. Enough of this nonsense....be honest, say what has to be said, and the county will applaud and cheer.

33. Damned straight! We do, we do, we do.
I hope other Dems will grow more backbone now, since Byrd, Gore, and Kennedy have shown them the water's not that cold, nor is it full of sharks and leeches (no republi-CONS present), so it's safe to swim.

What we need to do is call Ted Kennedy's office:

In DC: (202) 224 - 4543

In Boston: (617) 565 - 3170

Or my old standby fave - the TOLL FREE CAPITOL HILL SWITCHBOARD:

1 (800) 839 - 5276 - this is the one where they'll transfer you, for free, to anybody's office in the House and/or Senate. Call him for free, that way!

TELL HIM (or his aides) HOW MUCH YOU APPROVE OF WHAT HE'S SAID AND DONE. TELL HIM HE'S UTTERLY CORRECT, AND THANK HIM FOR SHOWING COURAGE AND SPEAKING TRUTH TO POWER!! EXHORT HIM TO DO MORE!!! TELL HIM YOU'RE BEHIND HIM AND ARE DELIGHTED BY THIS, AND HOPE MORE OF HIS COLLEAGUES WILL FOLLOW HIS LEAD, BECAUSE WE, THE "SILENCED MAJORITY," WILL BE SILENT NO LONGER. AND NEITHER SHOULD HE.

Sorry to shout. But this is important!

They have the money and republican owned corporate media to attack the dems.

That is always their plan...right now they are letting the dems beat up on each other and laughing about it...while they try and make Bush seem like the nice guy, presidential...Mars?
