2. Sure it's true!

Chimpy -- I'm coming down for the ceremony.

MLK Family -- well, we'd rather you didn't. The security arrangements will be a huge pain and people won't be able to pay their respects as we'd like them to.

Chimpy -- Great, I'll be there at 3. Glad that's settled. Make sure no darkies are protesting, ok?

24. There is Coverage!
At least here in Atlanta-metro area. This is their lead story for the 5 o'clock news and the 6 o'clock news, and they are showing "ads" (for lack of a better word) promoting their newscasts.

Quote:
"President Bush is in town to celebrate MLK..but he isn't receiving the attention he wants. Hundreds turn out to protest. Watch Fox 5 at 5!"

They also did a segment last night on their 10 o'clock newscast broadcasting a rally condemning Bush.

There is also a great article on the AJC newspaper site:

http://www.ajc.com/metro/content/metro/0104/15kingvisit.html

Hundreds of protesters greeted President Bush in Atlanta shortly before 4 p.m. as he placed a wreath on the grave of Martin Luther King Jr. on what would have been the slain civil rights leader's 75th birthday.

Buddhists chanting, students beating African drums and others shouting "Bush go home" burst past barriers but were driven back by police who, in an attempt to corral the protesters, parked four MARTA buses between the protesters and the grave site.

{...}

Police had said they planned to keep the protestors 500 feet away from Kings crypt but the protesters, teeming just across Auburn Avenue, were much closer and could see the president as he placed the wreath.

12. Lie--CNN is the official organ of the Busheviks
No, that's not right. That's Faux. CNN just lazily follows in it's wake while repeating and laundering many lies for them.

20. If Bush* "coordinated extensively" for this trip
then how come:

They didn't have the barricades back far enough to keep the early protestors out and had to move buses in to block view of the pResident?

How Come: They didn't coordinate with the people in the church in advance about security arrangements and not have ot lock them in until after the visit?

coordinate? my ass

22. The fact that they came up with...
Edited on Thu Jan-15-04 04:25 PM by skypilot
...this particular "coordinated extensively" lie shows that not so deep down they know what a shitty thing it is for him to deign to show up there on the way to his little fundraiser, even when he is clearly not wanted. I read in another thread about a despicable incident in which Mrs.King gave * a portrait of Dr.King and * made a joke about how he couldn't wait "to hang it". He supposedly had a smirk on his face and the audience laughed. If this incident really happened then Mrs.King is being more than gracious in not telling him to keep his sorry ass away.

26. That's what I read, also.
I read that the BuschMeister invited himself to the MLK ceremonies in order to secure for himself a wonderful Photo-Opportunity, considering that it's an election year and all that.

I also heard that there was some resentment about it, considering what the Old Boy moving in and trashing the ceremony. Also, he was not invited.

Maybe they bribed the family with $cash$, but I have a feeling the King family is more principled than that.

29. considering that disenfranchising 10s of thousands
of mostly black voters was one of his schemes for stealing the FL vote... Coretta should have slapped the smirk off his face and told him to stuff the wreath up his white ass.

but, she has too much class i suppose.
