For your entertainment - AARP letter
As most of you know my husband is temporarily working for NY Life. Apparently, AARP is a "subsidary" of them.

Here's a sample letter:

In respond to AARP's "wonderful" decision to support the Bush Medicare Bill which is NOT favorable to most seniors, I cancellled any AARP membership, notifying your president personally.

I have also obtained a life insurance policy elsewhere so I will have no further need of doing business with AARP.

Kindly, do not send me and further mailings including your magazine.

May the year ahead do as much to AARP as your actions in the past year did to most senior citizens.

Peter .......
Formerly #A104b172

You tell 'em Peter!

1. good
I sent a response to them in the postage paid envelope that came with an invitation to join. Same remarks, Until they change their stance on support for the Chimp's programs, I refuse to join.

2. I Canceled
I wrote 2 e-mails in December to cancel my membership and get a refund. Never got a reply so the other day I called (they are asking if you are canceling because of support for the bill). Three days after my phone call, both of my e-mails were answered.

3. Refund
My mom got her refund from AARP but it took an email, a phone call and letter. Now she takes any mailings from AARP, puts them in their prepaid envelope and returns it to them with nasty comments.
