Re: O'Neill's Revelations - Remember Time Mag's May 2002 story
about Bush's "F*ck Saddam, we're taking him out" statement, made in March, 2002 to 3 repig Congressman and Condasleeza?

I can't recall - who was the source for that quote? I researched the Daniel Eisenberg article in Time and can't seem to find a named source for the quote. Anyone remember? Was it O'Neill?

1. I believe it
was an 'unnamed' Cabinet official. Yeah, probably O'Neill.

"We're Taking Him Out"
His war on Iraq may be delayed, but Bush still vows to remove Saddam. Here's a look at White House plans
By DANIEL EISENBERG

http://www.time.com/time/world/article/0,8599,235395,00.html

Sunday, May. 05, 2002
Two months ago, a group of Republican and Democratic Senators went to the White House to meet with Condoleezza Rice, the President's National Security Adviser. Bush was not scheduled to attend but poked his head in anyway — and soon turned the discussion to Iraq. The President has strong feelings about Saddam Hussein (you might too if the man had tried to assassinate your father, which Saddam attempted to do when former President George Bush visited Kuwait in 1993) and did not try to hide them. He showed little interest in debating what to do about Saddam. Instead, he became notably animated, according to one person in the room, used a vulgar epithet to refer to Saddam and concluded with four words that left no one in doubt about Bush's intentions: "We're taking him out."

3. Also remember the other big Spring 2002 revelation:
"Bush Knew." That one really took off, huh? :eyes:

"Why, that's outrageous! The very suggestion that Bush was forewarned and did nothing...that must have come from (gasp) the internet."

6. there comes a saturation point, a point where enough
evidence is produced to start raising doubt about the boy king. It happened with Nixon.

4. And Cheney's comment
to a roomful of Repub senators, "It's not a question of whether we're invading Iraq--it's when."

From the same article.

5. and don't forget this story from September 2002:
Bush planned Iraq 'regime change' before becoming president
--one of the earliest mentions of the then newly-unearthed PNAC "secret blueprint for US global domination"

And Robert Dreyfuss asserted in Mother Jones back in March/April 2003 that the idea of taking over Iraq is rooted in plans made 30 years ago: The Thirty Year Itch
