Wisconsin Public Radio will have three programs of special interest on Monday:
9 a.m. (CST): ACLU president and Wis. executive director on post-9/11 laws restricting our rights
10 a.m.: Bob Barr, explaining why he thinks those post-9/11 laws violate our privacy
4 p.m.: Coauthor of the Carnegie Endowment report on Bush administration misrepresentation on need for war in Iraq

1. Did you hear Feraca & her first guest today, beating up on Rove & Bush?

It was a good show, and not at all what I had expected when a professor of African Literature showed up.

It started out as a discussion of a tradition of epic poets in South Africa whose job it is to praise their kings on special occasions... only there is a sort of court jester element to the job that allows them to speak Truth to Power in clever, subtle ways. It then turned to how those in power sometimes try to co-opt these guys as propagandists, with the obvious parallels with the U.S. press of late. And, a discussion of Rove as master storyteller with his brazen stagings of photo-ops, replete with fake turkeys and 'Top Gun' costumes and such.
