Had lunch today with Jan Schakowsky!!

Not like a big luncheon or something where she happened to be present.
My brother had a lunch scheduled with her and asked if I wanted to come along. We talked a lot about 2004. She was very interested in ideas to get more young voters registered. We covered a lot of issues, and ended up talking for about an hour and half. And I realized for the first time, that I am way more informed than the average voter. There was not one topic she lost me on. A few times she began to give a backstory prior to beginning an issue, and my brother or I would jump in right away so she wouldn't have to "catch us up" with an introductory statement.

Oh, and I had this ravioli with ricotta and fresh crushed tomato sauce thingy and a Diet Coke. Very tasty.

She's my friend's Rep. in Ill. (he happens to be a maniacal wingnut, sadly). Yeah, she is definitely someone whom I would love to meet.

I bet she was impressed as well. I'm sure it's not every day that she gets to have lunch with someone as well-informed as a DUer. The fact that the lunch lasted so long speaks volumes.

8. Oh, yeah, and she dodged a question on 2004 candidates

She appears to be in the "anyone but Bush" camp, and wants to wait for a nomination so she won't have to change candidates if her horse doesn't come in during the primaries.

I know that someone was probably wondering.
