In the right-wing Las Vegas Review Journal, of all places...back on July 31 (who knew? Not me...they never bothered to call me before running it to confirm my identity and I don't get the print edition).
They made a few edits, but for the most part, it's there:
GOP hypocrite
To the editor:
So, "Holier Than Thou, Death Of Outrage Republican, Hypocrite Extraordinaire" Bill Bennett is thinking about suing Las Vegas casinos for outing his not-so-little gambling problem ("Bennett considering lawsuits against casinos," July 29).
In the idiotic words of another hypocritical Republican, I say, "Bring it on!"
After years of preaching to the choir while screaming condemnation at those whose politics differed from his own, Mr. Bennett has suddenly got religion when it comes to filing frivolous lawsuits. Of course, it's not his fault for being a sucker, it's the casinos for pointing out how self-righteous he is. Seems Mr. Bennett has become the enemy he so loathed for all these years.
Mr. Bennett needs to get a deep breath, take a long, hard look in the mirror ... and then slink off to the retirement that used to await such losers in the past. Either that, or break the Republican mold of the past decades and actually own up to your own shortcomings, rather than passing the buck to others.
Death of outrage, my foot.
