Irene Dische at RNC [Mostly German, sorry]
...
Dische's account is considerably more expansive, and focusses on the poor security precautions at the convention (whereby she notes that things were similarly bad in Boston at the DNC). She even talked her way into being accepted as a volunteer, helping out with the running of things, and only got into trouble when she was there in her official journalistic capacity and didn't enthusiastically flag-wave along with everybody else. Lacking proper press credentials -- which she says shouldn't be expected from a freelancer -- and wearing a T-shirt which wasn't obviously complimentary to George jr. Bush, the biggest surprise is that she lasted as long as she did.
Detained and questioned at ridiculous length by a motley crew of characters it was all rather uneventful -- aside from a few fanatics, the overwhelming impression is simply one of unprofessionalism and disorganisation.

It is in German, but one of the best reads I had in quite a while.
