N E W Y O R K, August 26, 2004 —

In Madison Square Garden on Wednesday, Sept. 1, Georgia Sen. Zell Miller will deliver President Bush's keynote address to the Republican National Convention.

Twelve years ago, in the same arena, Miller delivered Bill Clinton's keynote address to the Democratic National Convention, lambasting the current President's father as someone who "does not get it."

Miller was--and still is--a Democrat.

Paul Begala, the former Clinton advisor and current co-host of CNN's "Crossfire," wrote Miller's 1992 speech.

... is that not only did he endorse Bush, but that he did it while there were still nine Democrats in the primary race.

Nine. Including Joe Liebermann. If Joe freekin' Liebermann wasn't hawkish enough for Zell, then who the hell would be?

I gotta think ol' Zell's hillbilly roots kept him from backing a Jew.
