To the Editor.
As a Vietnam Veteran who served in the 101st Airborne, I would like to address the issue of John Kerry's patriotism. I want to thank Mr. Kerry for his service to the country during his tour in Vietnam. I also want to thank him for speaking out against the war on his return. His address to the Congress about the actions of a few of America's soldiers in Vietnam is no more disrespectful to Vietnam Vets than Army Specialist Joseph M. Darby's account of abuses at Abu Ghraib prison in Iraq could be construed as disrespectful to service personnel there. In America the actions of a few are not used to indict an entire group. Today, most Americans would agree that the Vietnam War was a mistake. Mr. Kerry had the courage to call it a mistake before most of the people recognized the war as an error.

My neighbor served with the Screaming Eagles as a medic. After he came back, he joined Viet Nam Vets Against War, and is still active in that organization. I know he'll appreciate this letter-may inspire him to write one like it.

3. It is my hope that more and more.....

veterans will start speaking out against the lying smear boat idiots. More and more people should contact their local newspaper as well as national papers with articles like the one our friend submitted.
