Peace comes too late for Liberia's broken people
For 30-year-old Vicky Sesay, Liberia's latest peace deal came too late.

A rocket killed her husband, all but decapitating him outside their tin hut in West Point, a shabby fishing community caught in the crossfire of a rebel advance on the capital Monrovia in July.

A fortnight later, shrapnel sliced off her right hand, cut through one of her kidneys and into her stomach.

"I don't know how I am going to live," she said, wincing as she walked out of Monrovia's main hospital, the stump of her right arm wrapped in bandages and held close to her chest.

"I am happy that they have signed a deal, but right now I don't have anything left. I've lost my husband. I have no hand and no money," she said, opening up her shirt to show a long, fresh scar running from her abdomen up to her breast.
