Review of Biases in Kelly (UK Scientist) Inquiry Reporting - UK Guardian
"The Mail and the Mirror finger Tony Blair's government as the villain of the Kelly affair. The Sun and the Times say it's the BBC. Is anyone actually covering the Hutton inquiry objectively, asks Roy Greenslade...

You have to give the Daily Mail top marks for cheek. Its front-page headline on Tuesday was a gem of misrepresentation: "Dr Kelly: Now the Unspun Truth Emerges". It follows a pattern in which newspapers that have always accused Tony Blair's government of the sin of spinning disguise their own editorial spinning...

Editors didn't have to think twice about what they were doing, because partisanship comes naturally. They didn't need to consider the facts or weigh the evidence because they know where they stand already on the government of Tony Blair, the character of Alastair Campbell, the status of the BBC, the conduct of Dr David Kelly and, most importantly, the invasion of Iraq...

Most Mail headlines find a way of blaming Campbell...while most Sun headlines exonerate him....The Mirror...views the Kelly affair as a further opportunity to bolster its opposition to the Iraq war...How different life is when we turn to the Times, which clearly does not feel that the government is about to fall."

Interesting to read this review, and something to bear in mind when commentating on the affair having only read one British paper.
