Mitt Romney's $10,000 bet could come back to haunt him
http://www.latimes.com/news/politics/la-pn-romney-bet-20111210,0,2009778.story

Mitt Romney, the millionaire who has tried again and again to try to show voters that he’s just another everyday Joe, may have given his GOP rivals and President Obama a gold-plated gift in Saturday’s debate in Iowa.

While sparring with Rick Perry over healthcare at the debate in Des Moines, Romney challenged Perry to a wager. The stakes? A cool 10 grand.

Not a lot of 99%'ers are out there making $10,000 bets," Burton wrote on Twitter.

And the Democratic National Committee quickly fired off a mass email titled: "What the Average American Family Can Buy With $10,000."

3. that he changed his text in his book about health care
Mitt Romney held out his hand and offered to bet Rick Perry $10,000 that he didn’t change the health care text in his book..

In a throwback to debates from the late summer, Perry was attacking Romney over a claim that Romney changed the text his book, No Apology between hardback and softcover editions to delete a line about taking his Massachusetts health care plan to the whole country.

Romney said the story was not true and bet Perry $10,000 Perry couldn’t prove

4. Perry and Romney got into it over whether Romney stated Mass Healthcare
was his role model for the nation in the first edition of his book (since removed in reprints).

The $10k bet was the only interesting part of the exchange.

2. I couldn't care less about the bet, I have heard Romney had
that line removed from the book also. Did he alter the book or not?

5. The criticism has centered around the notion that only a 1%er
could even casually boast to make a bet of that amount...
