A witness to war - Prime Minister Trudeau's son
Edited on Sun Aug-17-03 10:12 AM by dArKeR
Documentary filmmaker Sacha Trudeau explains why he hunkered down with a family in Baghdad

Alexandre (Sacha) Trudeau sits on a garden swing, inside a brick-walled courtyard, the surreal sound of war thumping in the background.

"Things are never really like you imagine them. This is Baghdad, that's the war," he says to the camera, cigarette in hand as he motions over his shoulder.

"Americans came in here this morning," he adds, rocking gently on the white iron, two-seater swing. "What a mess...

He believes the world is less safe now. And the astonishing display of American military power may trigger a new arms race and create a new, international black market for weapons.

2. I'll be sure to watch this documentary on CTV...I remember when Sacha's
father warned the western world back in the 70's that if we in the west did not do something to help solve the poverty and suffering in the poorer nations, we would live to regret it....It looks like P.M Trudeau was right and we are reaping the results now....Sacha sounds like his dad where he says "The war on terror should be a war on injustice, poverty, disease. That's what it should be."....Like father, like son....
