Chicago traders taunt ‘Occupy Chicago’ protesters with ‘We are Wall Street’ leaflets
Edited on Fri Oct-28-11 04:53 PM by Katashi_itto
Someone in the Chicago Board of Trade dropped leaflets on top of “Occupy Chicago” protesters Wednesday afternoon as they rallied alongside unions in the city’s financial district.

“We are Wall Street,” the leaflet said. “It is our job to make money.”

“Go ahead and continue to take us down, but you’re only going to hurt yourselves,” it continued. “What’s going to happen when we can’t find jobs on the Street anymore? Guess what: We’re going to take yours.”

“Do you really think we are incapable of teaching 3rd graders and doing landscaping?” the leaflet asked. “We aren’t dinosaurs. We are smarter and more vicious than that, and we are going to survive.”

-Remember, they stand to lose untold billions if we win. They and their bosses will stop at nothing to take us down.

4. That's Why They Need To Move To Out To Grant Park
...where there are bathrooms, water, trees and broad exposure to the 99% who pass on the streets. They need an occupation with greater outreach potential. The LaSalle financial district is a hostile concrete jungle that will never allow their numbers to rise above twenty to fifty sleepers. Bas Rahm (as in Rahm Emanuel, mayor), the police and everyone on the floors above them are waging a psyops war of attrition through forced marches, media silence and now this crap from the 1%'s henchmen. The National Lawyers Guild Chicago seems overmatched by the city's corporate counsel. I hope they will get a steady stream of court injunctions against the police. Right now, Chicago is struggling.

realize that's part of what their landscapers do. :puke:

i've done both maintenance and installation. i'd love to see these idiots trying to dig trenches for irrigation and drainage, or laying sod. better still would be to see them up on a roof working a tar mop in the heat of the summer.

11. This is not written by a real 1%er.
This is written by a a kid three years or less out of college who has a good job where there is potential to make money at some point - but the person has not yet "made it." Those who have "made it" have much better things to do than taunt protestors. They will be focused more on whether the volatility of Blue Eurodollar packs is too high and will then contemplate whether it might be a good time to sell straddles (sell both the put and the call) on them or something.

The financial sector is gearing up for massive layoffs in the next year. I've seen estimates of 40-50% of employees will be laid off. I guess he'll get to put his money where his mouth is.

20. Arrogant and funny.
I give the POS three days in a third grade classroom by himself before he curls up into a fetal position and begins to whimper. Also, being "vicious" is actually negative trait for someone who chooses a teaching career, IMO. I really would not want my kid alone with someone who thought viciousness was the be all and end all of the human experience for any extended length of time.

Edited on Sat Oct-29-11 11:01 AM by 2pooped2pop
After all, teachers should not be molesters and you can tell they can't landscape because just look at all the Bush's they've planted? They all made the world wither.

Edit to add: and do they think they can survive and maintain their high and mighty lifestyle on teachers and lawn mowers pay?

From "The Iron Heel" by Jack London:

...And so it went. Sometimes he exchanged the rapier for the club and went smashing amongst their thoughts right and left. And always he demanded facts and refused to discuss theories. And his facts made for them a Waterloo. When they attacked the working class, he always retorted, "The pot calling the kettle black; that is no answer to the charge that your own face is dirty." And to one and all he said: "Why have you not answered the charge that your class has mismanaged? You have talked about other things and things concerning other things, but you have not answered. Is it because you have no answer?"

It was at the end of the discussion that Mr. Wickson spoke. He was the only one that was cool, and Ernest treated him with a respect he had not accorded the others.

"No answer is necessary," Mr. Wickson said with slow deliberation. "I have followed the whole discussion with amazement and disgust. I am disgusted with you gentlemen, members of my class. You have behaved like foolish little schoolboys, what with intruding ethics and the thunder of the common politician into such a discussion. You have been out-generalled and outclassed. You have been very wordy, and all you have done is buzz. You have buzzed like gnats about a bear. Gentlemen, there stands the bear" (he pointed at Ernest), "and your buzzing has only tickled his ears.

"Believe me, the situation is serious. That bear reached out his paws tonight to crush us. He has said there are a million and a half of revolutionists in the United States. That is a fact. He has said that it is their intention to take away from us our government, our palaces, and all our purpled ease. That, also, is a fact. A change, a great change, is coming in society; but, haply, it may not be the change the bear anticipates. The bear has said that he will crush us. What if we crush the bear?"

"But not by buzzing will we crush the bear," Mr. Wickson went on coldly and dispassionately. "We will hunt the bear. We will not reply to the bear in words. Our reply shall be couched in terms of lead. We are in power. Nobody will deny it. By virtue of that power we shall remain in power."

He turned suddenly upon Ernest. The moment was dramatic.

"This, then, is our answer. We have no words to waste on you. When you reach out your vaunted strong hands for our palaces and purpled ease, we will show you what strength is. In roar of shell and shrapnel and in the whine of machine-guns will our answer be couched. We will grind you revolutionists down under our heel, and we shall walk upon your faces. The world is ours, we are its lords, and ours it shall remain. As for the host of labor, it has been in the dirt since history began, and I read history aright. And in the dirt is shall remain so long as I and mine and those that come after us have the power. There is a word. It is the king of words - Power. Not God, not Mammon, but Power. Pour it over your tongue till it tingles with it. Power."

"I am answered," Ernest said quietly. "It is the only answer that could be given. Power. It is what we of the working class preach. We know, and well we know by bitter experience, that no appeal for the right, for justice, for humanity, can ever touch you. Your hearts are as hard as your heels with which you tread upon the faces of the poor..."

Edit: typos

24. Not a true 1 pct-er. More like a wannabe nouveau rich-ish yuppie twit
Edited on Sat Oct-29-11 12:27 PM by Populist_Prole
I note many here can sense it too. Just doesn't sound right because it's trying too hard to taunt and inflame, and I've heard very similar, if not the same talking points for several years, well before the OWS movement. These yuppie concubines for the real 1 percent love to cross-talk with each other and broadcast their "superiority", a feeling that is very real BTW. These are the same jackasses in BMW's etc that you see on the road driving agressively....almost spitefully rude. They are also the same ones you hear as dittohead callers on Limbaugh's show ( I used to listen occasionally in the late 80's/early 90's ) and he loved them. They were always young brash white-collar punks who called and bragged about how successful they are in a very declamatory manner...while el-rushbo cheered them on.

25. Completely ignorant
As a 99%-er who has been looking for a job for over a year, I wonder why these people think they could take jobs from anyone else. These days it takes mucho experience for anyone to obtain any kind of job, let alone "landscaping" and teaching. Furthermore, do you really think anyone would be willing to hire these guys when their resumes contain the words "Chicago Board of Trade"? Keep up the good work in Chicago, and EVERYWHERE else. We got the running scared! We are the 99%!
