Mark Shields deserves a medal for sitting with Bobo AND Jim Lehrer every night year after year. I assume he's well paid, but still....watching Bobo with that endless inappropriate smile....and he really doesn't speak that well. And while we're at it, Andy Rooney would do a better job than Lehrer.

5. Anyone else remember 4 or 5 yrs ago an effort to pump up Brooks's rep as being an intellectual?

It was really odd-- like the take on him was getting around that he was just another shallow, dimwitted pub tool (which he largely is) and the word was put out to the other receptive shill pundits to work into the conversation what a smart guy he really is.
