M$M: Obama pushing jobs bill: political maneuver. GOP filibustering...What?! the GOP filibustering?
Edited on Wed Oct-19-11 06:17 PM by Bill USA
It's interesting how Corporate media (in particular tv M$M) describe Obama's push for his jobs bill as purely, political maneuvering. But Corporate M$M doesn't even mention the fact that the Corporate Lobbyist Party has been using the threat of filibuster and filibuster by amendment to fight or slow down and undermine every effort President Obama and the Democrats have made to repair the damage the Republicans caused with their TRICKLE DOWN - DEREGULATION DISASTER. So obviously, if they don't bring it up, it's pretty unlikely they will be faced with the dilemma of how to describe the GOP's behavior as NOT being purely political maneuvering.

Apparently, the talking heads of Corporate Media have forgotten that almost before Obama occupied the White HOuse Mitch McConnell was stating the GOP's agenda was to make Obama a one term president. They have apparently forgotten that the GOP declared they were going to follow a 'scorched earth' policy in their dealings with Obama. I guess it's easier to forget these things than try to present these statements and acts (e.g. filibusters by amendment) as anything other than purely political tactics to keep Obama from succeeding in repairing the economic damage of the Trickle Down - Deregulation Disaster - with the objective being GOP successes in the 2012 elections.

The only thing the M$M will say with regard to GOP efforts at legislative sabotage is to throw in this statement as sort of an afterthought: "(oh yeah) the Democrats accused the Republicans of obstructionism."....something not worth even looking into to see if it has any basis in fact.

While they call Obama's pushing for passage of the jobs bill a purely political maneuvering they don't ask Republicans if they are so dead-set against the President's jobs package - WHY DON'T THEY PUT THEIR JOBS PLAN INTO A LEGISLATIVE FORM - WHICH COULD BE CONSIDERED FOR PASSAGE BY THE HOUSE AND SENATE? You don't suppose it's because they know it would be scored by the CBO and come out much less effective than Obama's plan?

for a very good article on the GOP scorched earth tactic see Why Washington is tied up in Knots - Time magazine

1. Gee, you'd almost think they were...
...the bought-and-paid-for PR arm of the Republican Party.
