Libya: What America's Media Won't Report
by Stephen Lendman

America's media staunchly back all US imperial wars, regurgitating officials lies as truths. Moreover, they never explain their illegality or daily crimes of war and against humanity against civilians, as well as non-military related infrastructure and other sites.

Nor do they report how NATO bombing prevents targeted nations (including Libya) from providing essential public services, including enough food, medical care, electricity, fuel, and clean water.

Nonetheless, America's led Libya war may have backfired. In Tripoli, Middle East/Central Asian analyst Mahdi Nazemroaya told Progressive Radio News Hour listeners that NATO bombing united Libyans behind Gaddafi to save their country.

Instead, American and Western media falsify reports, claiming:

2. Even the reporter on NPR who has cheer-lead this mess from the beginning is
backing away from it now. The assassination of that military "leader" by their own crooked ranks has finally cast doubt on this stupid adventure. I wonder how the USA will square up the CIA/State Dept's
hasty pronouncement of the rebels as the legitimate seat of authority now.

3. What a delightful bit of fact free Quaddafi propaganda.
Quaddafi, whose pledge to exterminate a city of 300,000 people started this intervention, is the good guy, who is beloved by his people...the same ones who are trying to overthrow him, apparently.

4. Qadaffi did not "pledge to exterminate a city of 300,000 people"
This has been shown to be incorrect over and over. He specifically offered amnesty to those who would lay down their arms and was ONLY talking about attacking armed insurgents.

Please cite ANY quote from him or his government to the contrary.

No, he's not a particularly good guy in many respects, but neither are the current leaders of the TNC. Lest we forget, too: there's a sizable Islamist element at play here as well, and they are not a bunch of pussycats either. Last I heard, the TNC continued to talk of pluralism and women's rights, but still wanted their future government to be consistent with Islamic Law. Has this changed?
