Chris Matthews strikes again: Sarah Palin ‘profoundly stupid’
Jeff Poor - The Daily Caller – Tue May 17, 7:26 pm ET

With a history of accusations of misogynistic behavior from both the left, MSNBC “Hardball” is not showing any indications that he’s willing to tread carefully, especially when it comes to discussing conservative women.

On his Tuesday MSNBC “Hardball” program, Matthews took another swipe at former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin. In a discussion about the prospects of Minnesota Republican Rep. Michele Bachmann’s shot at the 2012 GOP presidential nomination, Matthews was warned by one of his guests not to count out Palin, to which he immediately downplayed her viability.

“I think Sarah Palin proved herself to be — I think she’s proven herself to be profoundly stupid,” Matthews said to applause on-location in Los Angeles. “Her inability to answers the questions of Katie Couric, her inability of even now to explain if she ever reads anything.”

1. There's nothing misogynistic about calling a stupid woman stupid.

4. She is profoundly stupid..
I just copied the first 3 paragraphs of the story. I agree with Mathews. Not with the writer of the story.

5. from the comments - hilarious
"They also pointed out on that same show, that Michelle Bachman would be a logical choice for conservatives that found Palin a little too intellectual for their taste."

8. As much as I support his statements, truth is, he does this to anyone
he doesn't like politically. Go back to the early 2000s. I think it happened before 9/11. He had an interview with the president of N.O.W. or Planned Parenthood. Can't remember which one. And I only have a faint remembrance that it was Patricia Ireland as guest. She was talking with her signature Mona Lisa smile while Matthews was giving her a harsher treatment than he had given GWBII a few months earlier. In a camera shot I have never seen before, when she spoke, you could see Matthew's forearm and hand in the bottom of the frame. I swear, the image it presented, in addition to his heated tone, was that he was going to slap her.

Now that population problems are presenting themselves as the number one problem of our planet, you can say a lot of things about Matthews. One thing you can't say is that he had foresight.

17. And on the flip side,
he has a bad habit of lavishing excessive praise to other people, always kissing someone's ass. He uses the word "great" a lot when introducing not particularly "great" guests. I believe he told Ann Coulter what a great writer she was. It is embarrassing to watch him make such a fool of himself.

As for Sarah, yes she is profoundly stupid, but as a professional, Matthews could have chosen better words to describe her. He was looking for a reaction and he got it.

11. Chris Matthews is an idiot
His discussion of election is never about policies or real issues, it's about tactics. He focuses on gimmicks and manipulations, and meaningless trivia of campaign trick playing, and never looks at anything bigger than those small pieces. He's talking about the weird way that someone pronounces a word, for God''s sake. Look at how many times he harped on the way that Gingrich pronounced the word "automobile" at the expense of the actual meaning of the quotation itself.

If Matthews was a general he would be focused on winning battles in all the wrong places, and fawning over politicians and people of influence, telling them how much he admires them and how they "are the best" in their line of business, and would never come within sight of strategic goals or winning an actual war.

He doesn't care about elections in terms of any impact on the wellbeing of the nation; merely sees them as a game being played in which he is the sideline commentator and expert.

13. I like Matthews and disagree with your analysis
He does sometimes have a focus on political strategy and I find his analysis interesting, especially when his guests are Jon Alter, David Corn and Howard Fineman.

If you listen to any of his special comments you will understand that he does indeed care about the state of the nation.

His show had the ABSOLUTE BEST plamegate coverage on television. You may remember he had a peripheral involvement, as Scooter Libby called up Tim Russert to try to get Matthews to stop covering the "16 words" in the SOTU.

16. Your right, Palin is ignorant but not stupid.
Bachmann, on the other hand, is stupid.
