WI Senators Paying Corporate ALEC Membership with Tax Dollars

Even this one, I have trouble believing.

The breaking news: One Wisconsin Now has obtained documents showing that 12 current Republican members of the State Senate are forcing you to pay the cost for their private membership in one of the nation's most powerful and influential corporate policy outfits - the American Legislative Exchange Council (ALEC).

ALEC is the corporate front group that has concocted and supported disastrous attacks on the middle class like ending collective bargaining, privatizing public schools, preventing access to affordable health care and starving local governments - taking police officers and firefighters off the streets.

When you think about how the people on this list, such as Dan Kapanke, Alberta Darling and Scott Fitzgerald have claimed over and over that Wisconsin is broke and we have to cut workers' rights, dismantle public education and raise health care costs for seniors, children and working families, their hypocrisy is enough to make your blood boil. Use this link to the see the Senate's Dishonorable Dozen:

3. This Link does ...
Unless you think OneWisconsinNow is purposefully lying about what they obtained:

4. Was not questioning the fact
just the link and by what law the taxpayers are required to pay for private memberships
By using taxpayer money the people should have a right to question all activities of ALEC
and to be be given full access to that information

2. That's okay. Their membership will end in 2013 with ALEC but
their membership in the American Leadership Club will end November 2012!

6. Hmmm
The ALEC annual meeting is in New Orleans in August. If they don't fall over from the heat, they can travel to the devastated parts of the Louisiana coast and see what the lack of government regulation really looks like.

7. WI is the petri dish for Koch rule throughout the land
Edited on Wed May-11-11 09:50 PM by Doctor_J
within 2 years (one more election cycle) 40-45 state governments will be just as corrupt as WI. There will be a few holdouts like VT and CA, but the US will be a completely corporate state by 2014.

BTW, as I predicted, despite taking shitloads of grief from the Gandhists, the protests and petitions haven't done a fucking thing. When you get ready to try something a little more assertive, please pm me and I will come & join in.
