Matthew Rothschild: Meet Three State Workers Who Would Get Screwed by Scott Walker
from the Progressive:

Meet Three State Workers Who Would Get Screwed by Scott Walker
By Matthew Rothschild, February 23, 2011

The popular misconception, fed by the corporate media, is that state workers have it easy, and deserve to get their benefits cut and their union crushed.

Well, meet three state workers and listen to their stories and then reconsider that misconception.

Latanza Joshua provides care at the Southern Wisconsin Center in Union Grove. Its website describes the center as a “state-operated intermediate care facility for persons with mental retardation that specializes in serving individuals with developmental disabilities, often combined with mental illness and certain problem behaviors.”

“I help take care of their daily needs,” says Joshua, who has worked there for ten years now and makes $15 an hour. .............(more)

3. The bottom line is this:
Walker and his ilk, the tea baggers, the republicons, and lots and lots of folks who claim to be christians--none of them cares a whit about state workers, how hard they work, the services they provide or the people who benefit from those services.

They simply do. not. care. That's it, plain and simple.

It's heartening to see how many do care--makes me feel better about my country and fellow citizens, but overriding that is the fact that millions and millions of my fellow citizens who simply do. not. care. And that is just plain disheartening.

Solidarity!
