Mid-East: Will there be a domino effect? (BBC)
In the wake of the ousting of Tunisia's President Zine al-Abidine Ben Ali, observers have drawn parallels with other countries in the region.

There is speculation about a possible domino effect similar to the collapse of Communist governments around Eastern Europe in 1989.

In several countries of the Middle East and North Africa, youthful and rapidly growing populations face rising food prices, high unemployment and lack of political representation. Some are also ruled by aging autocrats facing succession issues.

Which are the countries involved, and what is the likelihood of real change?

Egypt

Yemen

Algeria

Libya

Jordan

Morocco

1. Could be. Recall that Egypt was PNAC's ultimate objective step-wise from Iraq to
Syria, I think it was, then Iran, and finally Egypt (or something like that).

2. Possibly, though not probably.
Back in October, 1979 when "students" (read, religious fundamentalists)took over all parts of Iranian society, it was predicted that event would trigger a domino effect throughout the Mideast and it didn't.

3. No, not, 'will there be a domino effect?'
Rather, when will the dominoes stop falling?

5. I am very vague on the governments in Africa and the East that are mentioned above.
However, change is not always good. Even when it is needed, as is often the case, the wrong people can perpetrate it, as history has proven time and again, from the French Revolution, which became a guillotining thrill ride for the Madame Defarges, to the Russian Revolution, which led to the gulags of Stalin, to the Iraq disaster which has lad to government which put Iraqui women back into the Dark Ages and tossed out a secular dictator for a elitist Muslim dictatorship.

http://www.irishtimes.com/newspaper/breaking/2011/0127/breaking58.html

Our President said in his SOTU that we stand with Tunisia and all people seeking Democracy, in the next 2 days Egypt, Yemen, Gabon & Ivory Coast are in revolution by the people.

Palestinians have started a protest in the UK at their Embassy in London.

There is some serious shit going on.
