Like it or not, history shows Sheriff Dupnick is right in what he said
I couldn't believe my ears when I heard Diane Sawyer ask with incredulity
that Sheriff Dupnik really believes the attempt on the congresswoman was
linked to the vitriol rhetoric that is so common in today's election debates
and the entertainment media (that's what Beck and Rush called themselves).

How long will we allow the childish behavior of our representatives to go on in
it's present state; "Take him out", Cross-hairs with names on a map, etc ?

Wasn't Oswald accused of killing JFK because he disagreed with his politics ?

Didn't Sirhan Sirhan kill RFK because he didn't like his politics with Palestine and Israel ?

Arthur Bremmer shot George Wallace for his stance on segregation.

How much evidence do you need to see it IS the language used by our representatives that
spur people to do things like this ?

there must be something in the air or water in this country when supposedly intelligent reporters
don't see it.

1. Just thinking of those two engaged in a conversation...
Sawyer appears manufactured while Dupnik is genuine.

2. Bremmer's 'rationale' has been changed to 'just wanted to be remembered'
At least in Wikipedia.

3. It's not in the air or water, it's the Benjamen in their pocket and who stuffs 'em there.
The media is mostly lapdogs of wealthy corporate interests, just like the congress is. There's two legs of the stool pulled right out from underneath the American people: Media has little incentive in reporting the real news to the people, and the Congress certainly doesn't want to be pushed into legislation which would make their corporate paymasters unhappy.

AFAIK, you're correct about those other assassins. It not only appears that the assassination was premeditated but that the killer went through some pains writing a note indicating that was the case, which would be found after what he presumed would be his death during the act.

Here's the thing though- both the Congress and the media (and all the other things on the corporate teat) have a little sway, they just can't go outside of certain bounds. Right now the discussion is hovering on some pretty threatening ideas- threatening to the corporations. In this case, the media corporations who rake in astounding amounts of dough by whipping their listeners into a perpetual state of hate. When you see reporters bending over backward to pretend the Hate Machine does not exist, it's not because they don't see it, it's because they're being ordered to pretend not to.

7. Sawyer is being lazy
She needs to investigate the incidents of harassment and vandalism that have already occured. She needs to investigate the behavior of Giffords' opponent.
She has to be one of the worst celebrity "journalists" going.
