Will Tom Delay Walk, Sentencing Dec 20 2010 Possible 5yr to Life Sentence
Republican Congressman Tom DeLay Guilty

Once considered the most powerful man in Congress, a State court found former Texas Republican Congressman Tom DeLay guilty of money laundering and conspiracy. Reports described “The Hammer”, as his colleagues called the former House majority leader, as stunned by the verdict. The Austin jury found DeLay guilty on two counts. One that he illegally funneled corporate contributions to state legislative candidates and two that he was involved with others in the scheme to do so. Sentencing will be on December 20, 2010 and if given the maximum possible sentence, DeLay could spend the rest of his life in prison.

I wonder what the Vegas odds are that he walks like all good crooked politicians!

1. If only.
However, he is probably already enroute to the Bush/Lay estate in Paraguay.

6. I notice a dearth of unbridled optimism and faith in our justice system.
Why oh why, I ponder, has such come to pass?

12. Tom delay Jack Abramoff Safe House C Street USFN The Family
Tom Delay - Jack Abramoff - Safe House C Street - USFN The Family.

The U.S. Family Network was largely funded by clients of embattled lobbyist Jack Abramoff. Payments to the group of up to $1 million coincided with votes and other actions taken by Tom DeLay in Congress in favor of the "donors."
Northern Marianas Islands tycoon Willie Tan, an Abramoff client, gave USFN $650,000.
$364,500 in donations to USFN from firms associated with Abramoff were in turn given to the Alexander Strategy Group.<4>

That would put him away for sure. Money laundering and conspiracy, not so much.

14. My understanding is that the Repug. Gov. Perry can pardon him.
I've been following his path of destruction since 2000 and to see him is an orange jumpsuit for years and years would be a dream come true. We'll see how things play out.....

17. Unbelievable! Ya' know, I think this country is just going off the cliff...
If a governor can pardon someone convicted of money laundering and conspiracy without being laughed out of office and run out of town on a rail, then I think, as a so-called intelligent species, we're done-for.

I'm not saying Perry wouldn't do it. Just that we've gone thru the looking-glass if that happens. Keerist!!

23. DeLay sentencing now January 10
Judge Pat Priest just announced 9 a.m., Jan. 10, as the new sentencing date for former U.S. House majority leader Tom DeLay.

Priest said he moved the sentencing date from Dec. 20 because of a scheduling conflict for DeLay’s lawyers.

The Jan. 10 hearing will be in the 250th District Court in the Travis County courthouse.
