Freshman GOP Congresscritter: "Where's my healthcare?"
Maryland physician Andy Harris (R) just soundly defeated Frank Kratovil, one of the most endangered Democrats on Capitol Hill going into the November election. And he did it in large part by railing against 'Obamacare' and pledging to repeal Health Care Reform. But when he showed on Capitol Hill today for an orientation for incoming members of Congress and their staffs, he had a different question: Where's my government health care?

According to Glenn Thrush of Politico, Harris created a stir at the orientation meeting by demanding to know why he had to wait a month after he was sworn in in January for his government-subsidized health care to kick in. After responding in a huff, he even asked if there was some way he could buy into the government care in advance, seemingly thinking there might be a government program similar to the so-called 'public option' championed by progressive Democrats in 2009.

According to an unnamed congressional staffer quoted by Thrush, Harris stood up at the meeting "and asked the two ladies who were answering questions why it had to take so long, what he would do without 28 days of health care."

6. Why do I think he really needs it?
His 'anger' at having to wait for it sounds to me like he or one of his immediate family has something he has diagnosed privately at home and doesn't want to end up with it being a pre-existing condition. He has probably been putting off going to a (I want to say real) doctor knowing he is about to gain that super gov-run health plan.:eyes:

9. Ha!

Republican hypocrisy knows no bounds. Since's he's been busy railing against "Obamacare", it would seem to me that he should go out and purchase his health insurance out there on the "free market". After all, that's supposedly "superior" to government health care right? Right?

15. ROFLMAO
You can't make this kind of stuff up. I'm surprised, though, that during the health care reform debates in 1993-1994 and this past year, nobody, at least within the corporate media, ever noticed how hypocritical the opponents of health care reform have been- denouncing universal healthcare as some kind of evil socialist plot while at the same time gladly accepting their generous government-paid health care plans.
Of course, this guy had to go and make a scene over his having to wait for 28 freakin' days for his government health care plan to kick in, so NOW the corporate media is catching on! :eyes:
I'd have given people like him- who oppose universal health care- a little more credibility if they had refused to take or dropped their government plans and went out and purchased private "free market" plans that they tell the rest of us are supposed to be good enough (and affordable enough) but they obviously must not believe in the private "free market" plans much, which means the rest of us sure as hell shouldn't either.
Of course, what's good for them seems to always be TOO MUCH for the rest of us to ever expect. Maybe this guy will have a "Road to Damascus" moment and change his mind about supporting repeal of "Obamacare" and/or touting a public option so that poor newly elected Republican Tea Party members never again have to wait 28 freakin' days for their health insurance coverage
:nopity:

........but somehow I quite doubt it. :eyes:

16. Sir, it is in part because you are a stupefyingly ignorant buffoon that you must wait 28 days.
Edited on Tue Nov-16-10 04:36 PM by Festivito
You are supposed to already have a job with health care that would continue until your next job's health care begins.

Since you appear not to know this, and you are Republican, and you have run against Obama-care that would have been a step to help someone like you (and that includes you of course), let me refer you back to my first title-statement.
