Wash Post Op-Ed: Obama Should Not Seek Re-Election
This is a critical moment for the country. From the faltering economy to the burdensome deficit to our foreign policy struggles, America is suffering a widespread sense of crisis and anxiety about the future. Under these circumstances, Obama has the opportunity to seize the high ground and the imagination of the nation once again, and to galvanize the public for the hard decisions that must be made. The only way he can do so, though, is by putting national interests ahead of personal or political ones.

To that end, we believe Obama should announce immediately that he will not be a candidate for reelection in 2012.

3. +1. Wonder what kind of bonus Murdoch paid them to write this crap?
They will dominate Fox News over the next week.

Shameless. And shame on the Post for giving them their forum, although we should expect nothing else at this point.

Recommending because DU needs to see this. Thanks for posting.

5. Shorter version: Give Republicans what they want under "bipartisanship", and
then leave the field free for Republicans in 2012. I can't believe "Democrats" wrote this.

8. I'd'd hate to see Pres. Obama viewed as a quitter which he would be.
I know nothing about anything, but I do know that Obama was dealt a losing hand from the beginning when it came to Republicans.

From the article...
"The president has almost no credibility left with Republicans."

Hmmmmm...

He had no credibiltiy with them the moment he was elected because they chose to turn their backs on him. It makes no difference what he tries to accomplish, the Republicans will block it, derail it, misconstrue it, lie about it and generally prevent any and all attempts of his to succeed.

Should he allow them to run him out of town? I sure as hell hope not. He'll be forever known as a cut and run president and nothing of his real legacy will survive.

But that's just my opinion.

Suicide would be a better decision and no way in hell is he going to do that. This is all just wishful thinking by Republicans.

23. Why would you do that? I'd rather know what tripe is being printed.
Why would you appoint yourself the person who decides what the rest of us on DU should read? Who appointed you Chief Censor? Don't think we're mature enough to figure out what's going on?

Shame on you.

To the OP, thanks for posting.

13.  Personally, I think the President has less "credibility" with the Left and that is going to be a
problem. And I don't think despite all his bipartisan efforts , the GOP have ever accorded him any credibility so he hasn't lost anything. They wouldn't even vote with him on what he admits was a GOP inspired HCR!

14. Aaand . . . the Freepers weigh in with their newfound respect if this were to happen (yeah, right).
Nothing more than a ratings ploy by Fox, and The Post is more than happy to be the useful idiot conduit.

Needless to say, the Freepers don't respond respectfully. http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-news/2626334/posts

19. Ugh. F**king WaPo.
Few people have been as critical of Obama as I've been and even I know this is a load of idiocy. I don't want him to not run, I want him to get his head out of ass and shine up his asskicking boots.

As simply put as possible, "Go left, young man!"

26. have these asswipes been in a coma for the past two years?
and even before that, was there any evidence that the GOP wants to play bipartisan patty cake?

Obama pre-emptively surrendered his political capital when he was inaugurated by filling his cabinet with the most conservative members of his party then extending an entirely unnecessary olive branch to the GOP. They took that olive branch, sharpened the tip, and stabbed him in the heart with it.

And these nitwits think the solution is to surrender even more?

Edited on Mon Nov-15-10 07:28 PM by Proud Liberal Dem
Fellow members of DU, we are officially THROUGH THE LOOKING GLASS with this article (if you can even call it that)

Caddell and Schoen have written an article that is a pinnacle of unreality that I never imagined was ever possible. Words simply fail me.

:puke: :banghead: :wtf: :eyes: :wow:

Well, there were pundits spinning similar garbage last week about Pelosi. I guess that this week it's President Obama's turn.

Blaming President Obama and/or Nancy Pelosi for the Republican Tea Party's nastiness towards them (and obstructionism) is.........well.......I can't think of an appropriate word to express just how disgusting this article is.
