THE CORPORATIONS ARE WINNING !
I recently moved (back) to TN. where my family lives. Most of them have voted as Democrats every since the first "W" term. I also have a few friends that I socialize with and I grew up with. They are (were) Democrats also.
The unprecedented political (harsh, untruthful, attack) ads, supposedly paid for by citizen groups have had their desired effect. Every one of these people (family and friends) are condemning Democrats and blaming them for every problem in America.
These "Citizen Groups" that are sponsoring the attack ads, are "groups" I have never heard of before. They have names like the "Association of Citizens Over 60", and other names that are equally just as populist sounding.
I was eating "take-out" at my Mothers last night. My Brother and I were eating in the Den, watching tee vee. An older average looking gentleman appears on the screen. He blames Obama, Pelosi and their "supporters in Congress" for all of the nations economic problems and freedom killing laws, that have (mainly) happened since 9-11-01.
After his list of our nations woes and his pronouncement that these are due to Pelosi, Obama and their supporters, the announcer says "this ad paid for by the "Association of American Citizens Over 60." Or some "group" like that.
I told my brother, who was looking like he agreed with everything this commercial said (hell I was agreeing with most of it until he said it was all due to the Democrats) that this was a "new" group. I proceeded to tell him about the Rachel Maddow expose about the corporate creation of these (seemingly) populist groups.
We have finally (thanks to the SCOTUS) become an undeniably Fascist nation. Since the corporate "money laundering" behind these attack ads are "legally" allowed to misrepresent themselves as groups of "poor" concerned citizens, who have all donated the only $2 they could afford in order to warn Americans of the un-American Democrats.....
They are winning. they are using Orwellian doublespeak like "the Patriot Act", "Contract for (on) America"...etc...to hide behind fake altruistic groups. The average (bereft of critical thinking) Americans are buying it.
What is really sad (to me), is that we have had a year since the "Citizens United" decision (just rolls off of the tongue, doesn't it?) to convince and prove to the American people, that the corporate take-over of America was guaranteed after the "Citizens United" decision...
America is (unknowingly) witnessing the final dying spasms of our Democracy. It's completely over now.

5. Fascism = The merger or marriage of Business and Government
The GOP is the Party of Big Business and have handed
power to Big Business through Deregulation and tax
policy. Conservative Economic Fundamentalism.
"Let the Market work its wll". The Free Market

7. Why wouldn't they win. They control the WH, Congress, the Senate, both major political parties and
the MSM.

12. I don't believe it's over until we quit, but the C/U decision has created a major dynamic
working toward mega-corporate/oligarch supremacy and against the American People's best interests.

Thanks for the thread, dotymed.

13. This is the reality I have lived with all of my life
I think the Neville Brothers got it right when they sang "You have free speech as long as you don't say too much."

The big money has always controlled the media because it is based on advertising revenue and Madison Avenue knows what it is doing. This is why the fascist are always able to package and sell their "soap" better then Dem's. They know its the sizzle, not the steak. The media goes to great lengths to define the "center" as an important concept so that nicer fascists can become "moderates" and their assumption is that if your neither Democrat or Republican then you must be in the middle. Candidates who don't fit the mold are shut out of the media a la Dennis Kucinich. Here in Minnesota a friend of mine running for Congress as an Independent was shut out of a League of Women Voters debate.

The Citizens United case just lifts the veil a little but didn't really change anything. Turn off your TV for a month and your opinions on a lot of issues will change. Even then you will be bombarded with over 2000 advertisements a day from radio, billboards, web sites, clothes, buttons and you name it.
