Atty. Gen. Ashcroft appointed documented prisoner abuser to reopen Iraqi
Prisons. The New York Times: May 21,2004 page A10. Article titled: "Screening of Prison Officials Is Faulted by Lawmakers". This article is written by: Fox Butterfield and Eric Lichtblau. It states that Ashcroft was the person who appointed Lane McCotter to head up the reopening of Iraqi Prisons. McCotter is a documented prisoner abuser forced to resign as Director of the Utah Department of Corrections in 1997 as a result of prisoner abuse leading to death. McCotter then created his own private PRISON COMPANY which was strongly criticized in a JUSTICE DEPARTMENT REPORT just a month before THE JUSTICE DEPARTMENT sent him to Iraq. Keep in mind that Ashcroft is head of the JUSTICE DEPARTMENT. It seems Mr. Goodie Two Shoes, Christian, Ashcroft pays no heed to his own organization, and by choice picks a documented prisoner abuser to head up Prison Affairs in Iraq. This entire Admin. is so bizarre it is beyond description. Any links to this article by web savvy types would be much appreciated. ...Oscar

4. A new precedent and a bad one if so.
The reasons for,the number of, and the way we treat prisoners in the U.S. IS AN ATROCITY in and of itself. One example is that a man is serving LIFE WITHOUT PAROLE in California for stealig 2 AA batteries under that states 3 strikes laws. His worst crime was stealing a bicycle out of a garage wich made it a felony. Then , ANY OTHER CRIME CAN BE PROSECUTED AS A FELONY. True story. ...Oscar

5. Ashcoft chose the man to reopen Iraqi Prisons, Abu Ghraib McCotter`s
choice as the BEST SITE for America`s main prison and trained Iraqi guards. It is too long of an article for me to Quote in it`s entirety. There is another prisoner abuser sent over by this Admin. named John J. Armstrong mentioed in this piece. It goes on and on. Sen. Charles E. Schumer, Dem. N.Y. wrote letter to Ashcroft regarding all this. ...Oscar

regarding this post. No sign in required here. Go to < http://www.thenation.com/doc.mhtml?i=20040524&s=frosch > This link provided by Geo55 explains a lot about Atty. Gen. Ashcrofts choice of people to handle prison affairs in Iraq and why things have gone so wrong under his leadership. And Ashcroft claims to be such a devout Christian. Did he ever bother to read anything Jesus said ? ...Oscar
