Circus of Heaven
Circus of Heaven
By David Glenn Cox

It is easy enough, even up here in the cheap seats, to think of ourselves as merely spectators in this circus of heaven. We cheer for the acrobats and laugh at the clowns while the sad truth is that we are not watching the circus, the circus is watching us and has designs upon us. They circle, while they entertain us, like hungry carnivores. So while we point at the good clowns or bad clowns we must come to understand that there are only clowns and that good and bad are only appellations used by children, because the clowns are working together and their plan is to eat you.

“In politics, nothing happens by accident. If it happens, you can bet it was planned that way.” Franklin Delano Roosevelt

When the President of the United States says, "I believe that this nation should commit itself to achieving the goal, before this decade is out, of landing a man on the Moon and returning him safely to the Earth," that means that we are going to the Moon. Write it down, place a bet on it.

So when the President of the United States says that “a presidential commission on the budget needs to consider all options for reducing the deficit, including tax increases and cuts in spending on entitlement programs such as Social Security and Medicare,” take it to the bank. The plan is to cut Medicare and Social Security.

For generations Medicare and Social Security were the third rail of American politics, but no more! They’ve got you punch drunk and bamboozled enough by their juggling to not realize that there are no longer good guys or bad guys, just cowboys and cows, and somebody’s riding off into the sunset while someone will be sizzling on a fiery spit tonight.

Take note that Obama specifically mentions Social Security and Medicare but left off mentioning the defense budget. That’s no accident, the wars will go on until the last dollar is spent. In the health care debate Obama was quick to use the car insurance analogy. Everyone must buy car insurance, right? As if driving a car and staying alive were comparable. So let’s see if he goes that route again. Social Security and Medicare are social contracts with the people of this country. They are insurance policies against poverty and illness in old age and Obama is saying “So, you’ve paid in for thirty or forty or fifty years; let's now change your benefits. Ok?”

This is from the party of the working man? Cutting the jobs bill from $100 billion down to $15 billion is from the party of the working man? Taxing union healthcare plans is from the party of the working man? Leaving banks in charge of the mortgage bailout is from the party of the working man? The list could go on almost infinitely because the party of the working man is no more. You’d do better to look for a leprechaun in your frosted Lucky Charms!

I had no respect whatsoever for the Bush administration; it was an immoral, unlawful thug regime. You expected the worst and you got it in full measure, but now under hope and change the only difference is in delivery and in nuance. We have a new thug regime that delivers with lofty, high-minded rhetoric but in the end delivers the exact same goods. Say what you will about Bush, he served his base. Meanwhile this bunch serves the same base while offering us only tea and sympathy.

Well, gosh, we tried to pass card check but those damned old Republicans outsmarted us. We tried to pass a public option but those damned old Republicans outsmarted us again. We were able to shift troops from one illegally occupied country to another, though! And we are able to expand the wars into a brand new country! We have every intention of cutting your Social Security and Medicare, but we won’t cut a nickel from the war budget.

Feb. 15 (Bloomberg) -- "Secretary of State Hillary Clinton said Iran is 'moving toward a military dictatorship' and called on U.S. allies in the Middle East to support sanctions to rein in the Islamic republic’s nuclear program.

“The government of Iran, the supreme leader, the president, the parliament is being supplanted by the Revolutionary Guard Corps, the military unit that’s enforced a crackdown on opposition movements since June and should be the target of sanctions, Clinton said in a discussion at the Carnegie Mellon University in Doha, Qatar. The U.S. believes the Guards control Iran’s nuclear program, she later told reporters."

Military dictatorships are bad, but China operates under a military dictatorship and so does Qatar. As well as Colombia and Egypt and Indonesia, so it’s not really whether Iran is a military dictatorship that bothers the United States. It’s that Iran refuses to bow down to the United States. If they would allow sweatshop factories and perhaps an illicit sex trade, like Cuba, the Iranians would be free to oppress their people as much as they like.

From the CIA fact book, "Iran Government type: theocratic republic."

Iran’s government has an executive branch, a legislative branch and a judicial branch. A better case could be made that the United States is a military dictatorship. This administration, just like the one before it, is hell bent on another war and will stop at nothing to generate a crisis. It's just another neo-con wet dream repackaged as the party of the working man defending your honor.

Meet the new boss, same as a the old boss. Congratulations, you’ve been drafted. There is no longer any reason to stay on the sidelines; they’re coming after your future. It’s no longer about promises not delivered but about promises sacrosanct for generations that will now be recanted. Revoked to pay for more neo-con wars, more CAFTA style trade pacts, more nuclear power plants.

We have Wall Street-based financial leadership with neo-con war party goals. They fully support the Bush administration's abrogation of the Constitution, and for you and yours… nothing. You say you don’t care much about politics? You’d better start or you’re soon going to like it a whole lot less. Blue dog Democrats are moderate Republicans. Centrist Democrats are centrist Republicans, and the President is a Republican in Democratic clothes.

You no longer have a choice; it’s coming to a life near you. A circus, a show, not for your entertainment but for theirs.

1. We've become a one-party nation

It doesn't matter if they're Democrats or Republicans. They both have the goal to serve bankers, lobbyists, CEOs, and the wealthy via the politicians. They see that the financial Ponzi is getting ready to implode, and they are ensuring they get whatever they want, leaving nothing for we the people.

2. As usual, very harsh......
and very well put. Lots of thought and anger go into your posts, and I always enjoy hearing your cynical point of view.
