Those thinking McCain is some kind of moderate are nuts. It is rare are Repug is not a repugnant repug..Very few exceptions.
But McCain was so screwed over by Dubya. South Carolina primary-2000. non white baby, drug addict wife. Dubya plays dirty with his won kind. ROve plays dirty always.. Is Kerry up to this?
But McCain...How could he not be pissed with Dumb as@. Bet he would bolt if it did not negatively effect his future..Already McCain has disaggred with Cheney about Kerry being a traitor and defense sell out..(That will be the day.!)
Ambassador Joe Wilson in an interview on TV said he interviewed McCain and they talked about Rove's workings. Too bad politicans can't be honest and let their hair down.

Kerry Campaign operatives are pushing strongly for it. Calling it a "Unity Party" strategy. The article makes it sound like McCain is being so heavily pushed that Kerry will have to do it, and in fact, it may be that Kerry himself is doing the pushing through these operatives.

John McCain is Co-Campaign Chairman of Bush's Re-election Committe, btw.

Article also says it looks like Kerry "can't find a qualified Democrat for his VP.

The article made me :puke: If this is what it's come down to why not make Colin Powell Secretary of Defense and Condi Rice in charge of the Treasury.

IMO, choosing McCain would be saying we are idiots and that "Selection 2000" and all that we've suffered through since, is dead and will never be overturne (Patriot Act, Pre-Emptive Wars, Corporate Crime, 9/11 Investigations, Torture Investigations.

We will become Republicans.

5. Because of realignment implications

A Kerry/McCain ticket would likely change the political landscape for generations. Long gone would be the era of 50/50. And provided Kerry isn't a totla incompetent, he would have the mandate to enact substantive, institutional, long-term change.

I'm not saying the freep/neocon population would magically disappear, they simply would be stripped of their power. These people only make up 20% of the electorate, at best, but because of the current dividing lines, they are able to get 30% to go along with their shit.

That 30% would clearly jump the freep ship (IMHO) with a Kerry McCain ticket.

no it is not a good idea. At first I thought it was, then I looked at some of McCains beliefs, they are repub most of the time. I like having him on the Repub side and voting democratic when it is a priority issue. It helps to tick off the repubs and Bush.....

and he probably does it to satisfy his constituents....which are probably from both parties......
