The bastards made him say his name, his parents' names, his brother's name, his sister's name, where he lived, and then they cut off his head... and held it up to a camera.

Twenty-six years old.

And even if (and what are the chances?) this is the worst of pledged al Qaeda retaliation for U.S. abuse of Iraqi prisoners, then hopefully it's enough to start a chain of events to get us the hell out of that country sooner rather than later and stop this insane waste of young American lives.

On a personal note, because Mr. Berg was unable to recite the Shema before he was so brutally murdered, I do so now for him: Shema Yisrael Adonay Elohanu Adonay Echad: Hear O' Israel The L-rd Is Our G-d, The L-rd is One.

May he and the rest of our fallen rest in peace.

(for those of you who are not Jewish, the Shema declares G-d's oneness and is the single most important Jewish prayer. I recall learning when I was a kid that when Jews were being persecuted and before dying if they were able, they would recite the prayer).
