We're now considered the most dangerous people on earth

The Moral Crisis in Iraq

It's really a shame that just a handful can besmirch the reputations of maybe hundred of thousands of our soldiers and sailors, airmen and Marines, said General Richard Myers, chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, commenting on the stories and photographs of young American soldiers brutalizing and degrading Iraqi prisoners.

There is every reason to believe that the military and the administration would have continued to cover up and deny the truth were no pictures. We should examine our consciences about that. We can stop wondering why much of the world now hates us, and in polls, say we are the most dangerous people on earth.

Sorta puts it in perspective, doesn't it?

1. When will Joe Public stop believing that they hate us for

our freedoms? They hate us because we have been screwing the world for corporate greed, military and political interference.

If I hear bush* say that lame phrase one more time I think my head will explode.

8. I think we're most dangerous in that we fan the flames in hotspots.

Obviously, our environmental record ain't so great, which is dangerous in itself. But I think the main reason one could call the US dangerous is that it inflames anti-Western sentiment in the Middle East, arounding more dangerous elements that might otherwise remain somewhat subdued. So I don't know if it's accurate to call us the most dangerous country. Perhaps we are indirectly, but I think there are more dangerous nations out there that could ultimately do more harm to world stability - North Korea, Pakistan/India, Israel/Palestine...
