Victoria's Dirtiest Secret Yet: Bob Dylan
Since learning from a creationist website that the world is only 6,000 years old, (God made dinosaurs and then he made the baby Jesus) life suddenly seems less complicated, blissful even. With a few billion years shaved off our planetery lifetime, we can revel in the neo-Neanderthalism of the here and now, and focus our scientific curiosity on more astounding revelations like Bob Dylan being named official spokesman for 'Victoria's Secret'. 'Gotta Serve Somebody' has proved prophetic, afterall. Since he embraced the baby Jesus as his saviour and tour manager a couple of decades ago, Bob Dylan has made the slippery-slope descent into his own fossil pit and not surprisingly, corporate America has not only dug him up, but kept him to his word.

1. You would think he would endorse Sesame Street
or something useful and helpful to society. But nooooooo, bob dylan lending his voice to such a frivolous corporate cause at this time completely invalidates his 'message' from the 60s and 70s. Did he have a head injury or something?

8. People Change
Those who don't grasp that fact call it "flip-flopping".

Sit down and _listen_ to Dylan: Frank Sinatra, who knew a thing or two about it, praised Dylan's singing.

Then again, he knew how to _listen_.

Dylan has gone through numerous changes -- being an artist, he doesn't stand still (or wait for others to "catch up").

Come on. It's only a product endorsement deal.

Jesus may be his Savio(u)r, but Money is Lord over all of us.

4. The writer of this article really does not get it.
Bob Dylan has been confusing people since young Bobby Zimmerman left Hibbing for Green-Witch Village. His "Christian" phase was one of many.

The whole article is a somewhat confused critique of American popular culture from (far) outside. I'm glad that Japanese pop culture is above criticism. After all, they gave us Karaoke & The Iron Chef.

7. Dylan is an Extraordinary Writer --
which means he is only a "fruitcake" to those who (1) cannot appreciate that fact, (2) have yet to learn to _listen_ beyond the surface, (3) know nothing of "American" musics, and music history, and (4) are intolerant/negatively labeling of "foreign" realities they do not understand.

All of which is easier than learning the facts.

Easier than accepting the fact that artists create the "new" and unfamiliar, as "we" demand -- as result of which "we" call the artist names.

Of course, there's always the heavyweight "talent" Britney Spears and her pseudo-sexy snake-wrestling.

9. I saw Dylan on a Victoria's Secret commercial
and I have to admit that it was major cognitive dissonance.

Dylan looks like a ravaged wino (sorry, Bob) while some young thang (she looks like she could be his granddaughter) smoulders in lingerie.

Eeeeuuuwwwwwwwwwwwww.

And the WORST part is that V.S. used a great song, Sick of Love, for this creepy low in advertising moment.

I listen to Time Out of Mind all the time. V.S. has given me a sickening image now which I associate with that song which I love.

Just another reason for me to hate advertising.

It's much worse, to me, than having Led Zepplin advertise for Jaguar.

10. Dissedent Voice should be called "voice of the strawman"
Starting with this article, I just read a bunch of articles at dissidentvoice.org. Almost without exception, they were extremely dishonest.

It's easy to argue against strawmen, a lot harder to actually counter the real arguments and positions of the people you oppose.

13. Come gather round models wherever you roam
and admit that your silicon breast size has grown,
and accept that soon your cover soon will be blown,

for your bras, they are a' fraying.

Come publicists and marketers who sell with your pen
This marketing chance, well it won't come again,
To have Dylan stand with a babe who's a "ten,"

for your bras, they are a' fraying.

Come Senators, Congressmen with interns on call,
What's important to you is what sells in the malls,
And the girls lobbyists send who will play with your balls

their bras they are a' fraying.

Come fathers with daughters throughout the land
Get your daughters the boob jobs that their boyfriends demand
You'd get one for a trophy wife upon first command,

if their bras, they were a fraying.

The bikini line's drawn and a thong doesn't last
If the thighs grow too big and the aging is fast
A husband will leave for a girl in a B movie cast

Whose bra isn't a fraying.
