Why is Dick Cheney on a torture promoting media blitz?
Excerpt:

But former vice-president Dick Cheney who has repeatedly implicated himself and his role in the torture of prisoners by waterboarding, seems just as determined to keep the torture debate open. He has been interviewed on ABC, CNN, CBS, and Fox recently.

Political strategists and pundits alike have tried to unravel the mystery behind Cheney's recent media tour. Dick Cheney is on a publicity tour advocating for torture and nobody knows why exactly.

During the 8 years that Cheney was vice-president, he was reluctant to talk to anyone about anything publicly. His actions while in the position of VP border on paranoia. Cheney shredded visitor logs. Add that to that interesting fact that he stated with absolute certainty that Saddam Hussein had weapons of mass destruction in advocating pre-emptive war with Iraq and it becomes crystal clear that Cheney is not known for his sincerity and truthfulness.

So what is he up to with his torture promoting media tour? There are several 'theories' about why Dick Cheney is on a media torture tour.

The most prominent theory ciruclating is that Cheney is preparing a defense for himself because he believes he will be investigated and possibly prosecuted for committing war crimes under the Geneva convention rules that the United States has agreed to. We know that waterboarding is considered torture. As far back as WWII, people were prosecuted for using waterboarding during interrogations. But the CYA defense scenario has problems. Why would Cheney choose to promote torture as a means of keeping Americans safe even though it is illegal when in essence, he has admitted that he broke the law by doing so?

Go here to read the rest of the theories circulating and then take a POLL.

1. Why does Radio Shack ask for your phone number when you buy batteries? I don't know.
Both are daft.

2. Some of us want to know!
And by the way, I used to work at Radio Shack and they've quit doing that. At least they've quit doing that in Birmingham.

3. Self preservation
If not because he is guilty as sin, which he is, then to protect the view history has on the heinous acts that were executed under his order.

6. Did you answer the poll?
I suspect you might be right but I just don't know. The fact that Obama didn't seem interested at all in investigating and prosecuting war crimes and it's been like pulling teeth to get anyone to even look into allegations of torture makes me think that the whole issue would have died down much to the frustration of many of us. But then here's Cheney who is determined to talk about it and keep it in the news which can only drag the pitiful GOP down further.

5. And why are the media....
.... so eager to host a man whose policies and beliefs were so massively rejected by We The American People last November?

7. That's an excellent question and brings up another theory....
maybe he's a smoke screen to keep the ridiculously stupid Eric Cantor, John Boehner and Mitch McConnell types out of the news making the party look bad but wait....Cheney is making the party look worse....choosing to embrace Rush Limbaugh and elevate him above the decorated war veteran Colin Powell who had the temerity to vote for someone other than a Republican.

8. Caller on Schultz today said that Cheney is planning another 9/11
which will then be blamed on the fact that we're not torturing any more. Does anyone doubt that he would happily kill thousands more Americans to try to save himself?
