Tom Ridge Has A Santorum Problem
Yesterday, it was reported that former Governor Tom Ridge (R-Pa) is considering a run for the 2010 GOP Senate nomination in Pennsylvania. Certainly, Ridge would be a formidable challenger for Arlen Specter’s seat. The problem? Ridge doesn’t live in Pennsylvania.

1. Ridge has proven his ties to Penn. This will not be a problem for him. He's the strongest...
candidate in the race, unless Patrick Murphy gets in, perhaps.

2. Patrick is a Dem
It is debatable whether Ridge can win the Repub primary, even with all his name recognition, given that the Repub Party here is overwhelmingly anti-choice, as is Pat Toomey.

5. I know Patrick is a Dem. The R's will want to vote for a winner, not a loser. If Ridge's numbers..
are good, they'll vote for him in the primary and he's a real threat in the general unless Murphy runs. They're both being veterans is key here.

3. Until...
...someone brings up his duct tape and plastic sheeting on the windows bit, or reminds voters of his color coded alert system.

6. Exactly
Ridge is too moderate for the Repubs in PA. They are a long, long way from getting a Senate seat here. Heck, Sestak might beat Specter in a primary here if those of us in Pa yell and scream enough.
