Exceprt without video:For what may be the first time ever, contestants in this years' Miss USA beauty pageant were asked a number of political questions.
Miss California, Carrie Prejean, lost to Miss North Carolina and thinks it might be because she was for "opposite marriage."
Oddly, she began by saying that in her country, people are lucky to be able to "choose" opposite marriage or the same. It seems that Miss Prejean isn't aware that in her country, same sex marriage isn't a choice for the large majority.
"Well I think its great that Americans are able to choose one or the other. We live in a land where you can choose same-sex marriage or opposite marriage. And you know what, in my country, in my family, I think that I believe that a marriage should be between a man and a woman. No offense to anybody out there but that’s how I was raised and that’s how I think it should be between a man and a woman. Thank you very much.”
The Christian Science Monitor called Miss California's answer "too articulate," and went on to say that, "her comments were clear, and her syntax was correct."
If that is what passes for clear and articulate these days, it goes a long way toward explaining why some people believe Governor Sarah Palin is clear and articulate.
