Unbelievable Bill Moyers April 3 PBS Interview on the Financial Crisis
http://www.pbs.org/moyers/journal/04032009/watch.html

Don't miss this one! Just an unbelievable interview with William K. Black, the former senior regulator who cracked down on banks during the savings and loan crisis of the 1980s, about how we got in this financial crisis and why it is continuing. This guy really lays it down and names the names and all the dirty deeds that went down to bring the USA to it's knees.

Black broke it all down pretty well.

3. I've really been hoping that Geitner would go away. I wonder why
he's still around. I know everyone says how brilliant he is, yada, yada; but IMHO his public persona is horrible which in turn negatively impacts consumer confidence.

10. either Obama is in the back pocket of Wall Street or he's playing a very long game of chess
with them and we don't see all the moves.

If it's the latter, we've got a chance. If the former, we can just kiss that 12 trillion good-bye.

11. I agree on both counts, with one caveat.

Even if President Obama were a good chess player, this inordinate, accumulated, Wall Street power combined with the dysfunctional, incestuous, establishment worshiping, corporate media pundit propaganda machine, conflict of interest be damned regulatory agencies, burgeoning military industrial complex, privatized mercenary armies, for profit prisons, and for profit health care be damned insurance corporations, leads me to believe the President better bone up on Star Trek three dimensional Chess if the American People are to have a chance.

13. It seems like he has because a more direct assault would blow up in his face
they are expecting the pitchforks and reregulatory efforts, so what is going to get through their defenses?

The only thing I worry about is like during the Bush administration, all those tax dollars flowing into corporate coffers will be used for PR, campaign contributions, and black bag operations against us.

If I were Obama, I would be playing along with them and while writing the checks with one hand, using the ''stress tests'' to collect evidence and have Eric Holder quietly wiretapping (with warrants) and collecting evidence too. Then pick a couple of the biggest fish, seize all their assets (and I mean ALL), throw them in regular ass-rape prison, and break their companies into a couple of million pieces.

That would convey the same message as this scene from Tombstone (scroll down and click on pic):

15. I'm betting on the long game of chess.
You can't just change everything at once. Obama has shown himself to be very good at rope-a-dope in the election cycle, and has been good at picking his fights since he took office. But there is nothing wrong with making a fuss about the banking parasites.

17. a promising story on this was about Gates & Defense: Obama using him as cover for defense cuts
at least that's what conservatives are worried about, and when they are worried, Democrats are doing something right.

and I want to save the Obama Administration. I'm not very confident that will happen.

4. This was incredibly good journalism
Yeah, I guess that's why Bill calls it the "Journal".

This is without a doubt the most informed program ever. That interview needs to be kicked again and again, but I've gotta go to work.

Bill Moyers, thank-you. William K Black, thank you even more. Haven't we learned something? God, I hope so.

8. Still waiting for the Obama Taliban....
...to attack Bill Moyers.
That is two shows in a row that moyers has dared to criticize Obama's Wall Street Bailout.

9. I just watched it from my TIVO.
Excellent!

And the 2nd half was just as good with Glenn Greenwald and Amy Goodman.

14. The whole hour was extraordinary, first Wm Black on the financial debacle
and then Amy Goodman and Glenn Greenwald on the media. WOW! Everyone view; it is vintage Moyers at its very best.
