Transcript: Clarke Praises Bush Team in '02
I found this thanks to the thread to DU a poll on Faux Nooze by Cannakin: http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=view_all&address=104x1278731

WTF is this? Clarke says in this interview with Jim Angle (of Faux Nooze) and "Andrea" (Mitchell?) that Clinton gave no plan to Bush? Why is this coming out within an hour of Clarke testifying? Is this true?

http://www.foxnews.com/story/0,2933,115085,00.html

snip>>>
RICHARD CLARKE: Actually, I've got about seven points, let me just go through them quickly. Um, the first point, I think the overall point is, there was no plan on Al Qaeda that was passed from the Clinton administration to the Bush administration.

snip>>>>
QUESTION: Were all of those issues part of alleged plan that was late December and the Clinton team decided not to pursue because it was too close to ...

CLARKE: There was never a plan, Andrea. What there was was these two things: One, a description of the existing strategy, which included a description of the threat. And two, those things which had been looked at over the course of two years, and which were still on the table.

QUESTION: So there was nothing that developed, no documents or no new plan of any sort?

CLARKE: There was no new plan.

END SNIPS>>>>

WTF! Was Faux holding this until Clarke was going to testify? WTF??? Cleared by the White House on Wednesday? Faux and Bush, sittin' in a tree...

2. I saw it as well
David Assman was on later trying to twist Michael Isikoff's arm into totally discrediting Clarke based on these "secret tapes" Faux News has un-earthed. Isikoff didn't buy it. Assman was pissed.

Clarkies will remember Assman as the guy who got into it with the General over the summer. Assman also has a son in Iraq and is probably one of the more vehmently pro-Bush Fauxies. I find him particularly sickening.

4. Clinton could not get OBL so he warned the Bush team that this should be
Edited on Wed Mar-24-04 01:09 PM by styersc
their first priority.

Clinton was hobbled by his 8 year policy not to do business with thugs like Musharaf and the drug dealers of the NOrthern Alliance. Dealing with thugs is what got us Osamam bin Laden, Saddam Hussein (the Shah, Pinochet in Chile, etc.,etc- Clinton was not going to make the same mistakes that COnservatives had made for years).

He warned the Bushies that they should look for the first opportunity to get OBL.

Bush was not interested. Their priorities were Star Wars and Iraq.

If Bush was so interested in getting bin Laden and had a plan in place- was going on a one month vacation only 8 months in to his term, really a good idea?

Bush had other priorities and OBL snuck up on hjim- despite plenty of warnings from the Clintons.

5. Clarke says "NO NEW PLAN" later - so no plan was shorthand - FOX BS
So Clinton had their plan passed on to Bush - and later the Hart/Rudman report is passed on in Feb - passed on to Bush

But FOX SPINS - NO PLAN!

and the rest of the media lets Fox get away with it!
