Does anyone know where George W. Bush is?
from the article.....You don’t hear much from him anymore. The last image most of us remember is of the president ducking a pair of size 10s that were hurled at him in Baghdad.

We’re still at war in Iraq and Afghanistan. Israel is thrashing the Palestinians in Gaza. And the U.S. economy is about as vibrant as the 0-16 Detroit Lions.

But hardly a peep have we heard from George, the 43rd.

When Mr. Bush officially takes his leave in three weeks (in reality, he checked out long ago), most Americans will be content to sigh good riddance. I disagree. I don’t think he should be allowed to slip quietly out of town. There should be a great hue and cry — a loud, collective angry howl, demonstrations with signs and bullhorns and fiery speeches — over the damage he’s done to this country.....

Bob Herbert pretty much sums it up in today's NYT...couldn't have said it better ....

1. I'm tempted to say "does anyone really care"...
But I care ~ he should be hunted down and prosecuted.

7. he should be, but he won't.
Are there any countries that bush should be hesitant to visit in future? where he would be arrested? i think that man deserves to be given the compassion he showed the inmates who pleaded for mercy in texas. i don't see that happening though.

on vacation*.

*Well, expect for the one time he shortened it to rush back to Washington to sign emergency legislation ... to keep Terri Schrivo on a feeding tube.

CRAWFORD, Tex., Dec. 30 -- The sun is setting on this rural corner of President Bush's empire.

This week, the president is spending what are expected to be his final days at his family ranch, a craggy 1,583-acre estate here in the Texas heartland that is almost as prominent a symbol of his presidency as the White House itself.

(snip)

Bush's time at the ranch has worked out to 11 percent of his presidency, nearly half what it had been before those twin events.

11. Oh god, how many times
I have seen that same boozy look on people in my own life. I know it so well.

It's the look that comes just two seconds before the person ralphs up a case of beer, a couple of mixed drinks, and half the contents of a jar of pickled eggs on his own shoes. Or the people within three feet of him.

:puke:

Does anyone know when that was taken?

In any case, wherever he is, I hope he stays there. Until they come and drag him away to the Hague to be tried for war crimes. Yeah, I know...it's probably futile, but we can only hope...

9. To paraphrase Sinclair Lewis, George Bush was drunk. He was eloquently drunk,
lovingly and pugnaciously drunk.

But bush** didn't do it all. Round 'em up. Armitage, Cheney, Meirs, Gonzales, the whole fucking crowd including Perle and Wolfowitz. Make them run a gauntlet made up of Americans who's lives have been turned inside out and upside down by these nasty bastards. If they don't make it out, they don't make it out. Oh well.

14. I agree
The whole lot of them need to be made an example of...however, I can't believe, in my heart, that they will all just "go off into the sunset"...
I believe in the element of surprise. Remains to be seen.

Anyway, have a Very Happy New Year and may you be right and I be wrong.

16. He was at the Kennedy Center last night
for the annual award show. He and Laura looked on contemptuously as Pete Townsend and Roger Daultry were presented honors and paid tribute to by an all star band that included many of New York City's finest in chorus as recognition of their help in healing the people of New York City following the 9/11 attack.
A great show, catch it if it comes up on PBS anytime soon!

19. Highly recommended
Herbert's message is very important. It will be too easy to pull down the curtain and say "good riddance." Herbert nails it when he writes, "I don't think he should be allowed to slip quietly out of town."
