Bush Didn’t Tell the Truth

United Arab Emirates - Al-Khaleej - Original Article (Arabic)

When American President George Bush says that the war in Iraq was “longer and more costly than expected,” he is confessing to about only one-fourth to one-half of the truth. He offered an incomplete and deficient characterization of Iraq’s condition and the catastrophic effects his war has had on the Iraqi people and his forces after more than five years since the invasion and following occupation. It has produced hidden costs which have weighed heavily on the American economy.

As Bush was detailing the state of affairs in the world due to the imbecilic policies of his administration, he didn’t dare admit the truth, which was that he launched a war on Iraq and Afghanistan to achieve imperialistic goals formed by a gang of neoconservatives with ties to Zionism. Their goal was to control the oil and energy supply lines and to supply a geopolitical environment for “Israel” by destroying Iraq’s capabilities and potential. That is what the prime minister of the entity Ehud Olmert referred to during his last visit to the United States and in his meeting with Bush; that the occupation of Iraq was “the most important victory for Israel,” confirming that the occupation was primarily an Israeli goal realized by the United States.

Bush didn’t dare admit that the justification for his invading Iraq rested on false and imaginary evidence which had no basis in fact. Nor did he admit that weapons of mass destruction were merely an American Trojan horse to realize the goals and aims planned by the neoconservatives before Bush came to power, and that they used him to carry them out.

Also, Bush did not admit that his war on Iraq was outside of international law, had no legal basis and that he violated every agreed-upon norm in international relations, threatened world peace and security, made the world more dangerous and less secure and that he caused many humanitarian catastrophes which happened in Iraq.

When the American president says that the war in Iraq was “longer and more costly than expected,” he is speaking of the result and ignoring the cause. The cause is known; the war was a foolhardy undertaking of uncalculated consequences. It was a huge strategic military defeat for the United States. Tremendous brute force was of no avail to achieve what was thought to be within hand’s reach.
