Bernanke Endorses Obama
Source: Wall Street Journal

Ben Bernanke apparently wants four more years as Federal Reserve Chairman. At least that's a reasonable conclusion after Mr. Bernanke all but submitted his job application to Barack Obama yesterday by endorsing the Democratic version of fiscal "stimulus."

While the Fed chief said any stimulus should be "well targeted," even a general endorsement amounts to a political green light. Mr. Bernanke certainly knows that Mr. Obama and Democrats on Capitol Hill are talking about some $300 billion in new "stimulus" spending, while President Bush and Republicans are resisting. And by saying any help should "limit longer-term effects" on the federal deficit, he had to know he was reinforcing Democratic opposition to permanent tax cuts. ---

13. It's the WSJ, saying that because..
Bernanke thought the stimulus package was a good idea, he is endorsing Obama in the hopes of keeping his job.

10. This is not an endorsement of Obama.
It is an opinion piece slamming Bernanke for endorsing the Democratic stimulus plan. Not really LBN in my opinion.

15. Read the piece people... The title is deceptive.
Don't be drawn in by your preconceptions. Bernanke has NOT endorsed Obama. However, if he had, it would have been mana from heaven for us.

16. "The title is deceptive" - THAT's the understatement of the year...

I was shocked by the headline, and I admit that I scanned the article too fast, but assumed the endorsement wasn't official - but had some basis to it, maybe an implied suggestion, or something.

It is my responsibility to read beyond headlines in order to understand the full relevance of any story, but I also think that, while dramatic headlines are meant to draw interest, I seems like a violation of standards to publish a headline that basically imaginary. Good headlines draw us with drama that is validated in the meat of the details. This is just bloody annoying.
