Never Underestimate the Dipshittery of the American Voter

In light of the economic chaos of the past few days, I’m going to say something I thought would never pass my lips - John McCain is an even bigger asshat than George Bush.

For a much vaunted war hero who claims to put country before political preening, there’s a hell of a well-groomed smoking crater in Washington where a rare bipartisan moment may have once bloomed. He grandstanded his way back to Washington to “lead” bailout negotiations off a cliff and then decided he’d done enough damage to flip-flop and make the debates tonight. The man can’t even manage a photo op without screwing the pooch. It makes me wonder whether he was shot down over Vietnam or intentionally crashed his jet into the Hanoi Hilton so he could “lead” negotiations between prisoners and guards for an extra chocolate bar each month.

McCain is a REAL Uniter
It’s one hell of a note that McCain can single-handedly lead Bush to a victory on one of his oldest campaign promises - being a uniter. By the simple expedient of sitting in a meeting like a less-educated version of a bump on a log, he was able to unite Democrats, Republicans, the American public, world financial markets, and even Bush himself into fear and loathing at just what a complete goob he really is.

Given his performance so far, there’s no reason to wonder whether Sarah Palin could take over if something happened to the moth-eaten shyster. His administration would only last 36 seconds, just long enough for him to trip over the guy carrying the nuclear football, causing a thermonuclear war that eradicates all life on Earth - even the cockroaches wouldn’t survive. At that point, whether Sarah Palin can see Russia from her window will pretty much be a moot point.

I’d like to believe the man is so self-evidently stupid that he’s become political toast. After all, no sane person could look at this walking disaster area and vote for him or his poorly-vetted, vowel-elongating, lipsticked hockey goalie. However, you can never misunderestimate the dipshittery of the American voter. It took half the country eight years to figure out what a tool George was, so I despair it may take them eight more to cast the butterfly net over McCrankypants. Hell, I’m still amazed that so many politicos - from Lindsey Graham to Joe Lieberman - still find his ancient, wrinkled ass attractive enough to continue their decades-long rim job.

I’m Omnipotent, Not a Miracle Worker
Hank Paulsen genuflected to Nancy Pelosi yesterday asking that Democrats not “blow up” the bailout agreement. In a rare display of sanity, Nancy reminded the erstwhile econo-dictator that it was the Republicans doing that particularly bang-up job. Paulsen replied, “I know.”

If I thought it would help, I’d genuflect to the crowd of McLoser voters and ask them to pitch in, put the country first, and save the Republic. However, I know that’s a prayer with no answer. If a person can have watched the carnage this self-proclaimed patriot has wrought and still vote for him, there is no hope.

After all, I’m an Omnipotent Poobah, not a miracle worker.
