Palin accused of using 'Bridge to Nowhere' to gain national prominence

Gov. Sarah Palin yesterday was tapped by Sen. John McCain to be his presidential running mate. In her acceptance speech in Dayton, Ohio, Palin made reference to the Bridge to Nowhere as she described herself as a champion reformer in the fight against abuses of earmark spending in Congress.

Palin's critics, including former gubernatorial rival Andrew Halcro, said when Palin was a candidate in 2006 she sang a different tune about the bridge during a campaign stop in Ketchikan.

Halcro says Palin said she supported the bridge.
