Speaking of vetting-who vetted McCain?
Edited on Sun Aug-24-08 06:56 AM by underpants
We may forget, since our addled little minds couldn't possibly remember, that John McCain basically backed into the Republican nomination. He won by literally standing still and letting one of the worst fields of candidates imaginable slowly dissolve around him. McCain gained ground by stopping his campaign. Yes there was also the reincarnation of Reagan getting nabbed by 21st Century technology on his way to his coronation.

At no point did someone stop and talk about what anyone remotely familiar with McCain HAD to know would come back to slap them in the face. The summary details of the long divorce from his first wife is enough to make even friends cringe let alone how it would plan to the most "morally casual" elements of the electorate, let alone the "family values crowd". Or maybe they were so wrapped up in digging for dirt on the Dems that they forgot to check out their own guy.

Again not to go into to too much detail but Cindy McCain herself is perceptively and historically trouble waiting to happen. Clearly the drive train is his machinery she seems to have created a sphere of enablers and almost cultlike following that is only possible either by the multi-millionaire wife of a "Senator-for-life" or in a world bent only on attack of "opponents" and groupthink flavored Kool-Aid.

It has long been said that it is nearly impossible these days to get elected President from the Senate due to the deliberative nature but the Senate shares one thing in common with the lowly House-lobbyists and in 20 some years in the Senate McCain seems to have no other professionals he trusts. The irony here is apparent so crystal clear that it must have been the forest in the way of anyone mentioning the danger all the trees would cause. To this day something the McCain campaign is rife with lobbyists-who are an intersection of money, political dirty word, and have-to-be-somewhat-competent guys in suits. McCain has mostly dodged any notice of his having to wholesale retool his campaign casting off the massive amount of lobbyist at every level of his campaign while the Democrats were offering their high drama.

This leads us to the press. The media's well known love and devotion to McCain is so evident that THEY even used to joke about it. Now that they are relegated to another bus they speak of their former leader like good little kids at the other table do of their elders. This seems to be a bit of the problem as well-the media never called their guy on the obvious, the points that try as they might they would someday have to talk about. Like when a stranger comes into another social situations and points out the obvious-things that everyone in THAT world had agreed to stop talking about. Such is life outside the castle wall I guess.

1. We vet McCain. The Republicans don't have anybody else to send to the slaughter.

3. I just vetted my post
Woof was that badly written.

CNN and the rest of the MSM is having to deal with their guy's problems in whack-a-mole fashion....as soon as the campaign tells them the official spin on it.
