Lawmaker Calls on Pentagon to Explain Promotion of Threat-Wielding Recruiter
Rep. Gene Green (D–TX) is calling on the Pentagon to explain why a military recruiter was given a promotion despite being found to have illegally threatened a teenage boy with jail time if he decided to go to college instead of joining the military. The recruiter was eventually promoted to head a different recruiting station. Green sent the letter questioning Kelt’s new job after his Wednesday appearance on Democracy Now!

1. I missed the part where he got a promotion!
And the threats were only part of it. He also lied his @ss off about what the Amry would do for this kid. He told him that if he enlisted and gave basic training a try, he could leave if he wanted to. It was unreal.

2. As a Vietnam vet I was sickened by what we did in Vietnam but I still respected our men and women
in uniform. After the last seven years I have gotten the feeling that our all-volunteer military is a big mistake.

Reading about the "suicides" of high-ranking officers in Iraq who questioned the way contractors were doing things, plus the pandering by those "independent experts" who were really retired generals who were on the payroll of companies benefiting from the war, it's all making me have less respect for our military.

Although, I still feel that we must honor the service of those who serve, we owe it to them and to our country to clean up the mess that is being made.
