I don't listen often enough to have any experience, except for Novak's "bullshit" which I only saw thanks to Youtube. I guess if you're nitpicky enough, Bob Schieffer's "he has a habit of making these boners" back in 2007 regarding Joe Biden's "shove it down Bush's throat" comments might count.

1. Every time I watch it ....
that's because I can't hear the TV over my swearing at it.

2. Chris Matthews
will occasionally forget to censor himself. I heard him say shit once and I seem to also recall him actually dropping the F bomb.

4. "Boner" in that context doesn't mean "boner". It's kind of an out-of-date
term, simply meaning a clumsy mistake or error. You haven't heard of the imfamous "Merkle Boner"?

5. Correct, it's a variation of 'bone-headed', or stupid. nt

6. I already knew that, growing up with the nickname
But of course there are plenty of vocabulary nazis out there who will count any word that has a vulgar meaning, even if it's used in a nonvulgar form.
